Big news looming soon, House and Johnston will need to be enrolled as full-time students at FU by the September 3rd drop/add deadline to be on the roster this Fall.

The Ohio judge has already ruled in favor of those players (House) being able to play. Now just waiting to see if the NCAA will fight it.

The California ruling that will include Johnston is expected to be made by mid to late August.

Going to be interesting.........

I know it's been discussed that House is considering returning. Does anyone know if Johnston has expressed any interest in coming back? Given the injuries to Ritger and Smith, the return of House and Johnston would be huge. Also, it seems like Smith's injury was pretty severe - any word on whether it is a career-ending type injury?

I haven't seen any correlation on social media between the rulings and House/Johnston actively pursuing a return specifically to Furman.
Are "we" simply assuming they are wanting to return to Furman?

I have heard they are both interested in returing to play at FU for Coach Richey if the courts rule in their favor to play.....

I also think Smith could be back around December..............

Not really a “blanket waiver.” I expect lawsuits will be filed tomorrow morning if the players cannot transfer.

Update. The tweet above about players not being able to transfer must be incorrect. Clemson’s former player RJ Godfrey transferred to Arizona yesterday.

This is HUGE!

Means we have Tom House who has already been at FU practicing, and we might even get Johnston back too!

Players from the 2022 recruiting class who qualify have been granted an extra season of eligibility by court order.
That ruling did NOT eliminate NCAA transfer rules. The judge later clarified that athletes still have to follow the existing transfer regulations.

Who CAN transfer?
Players who were already eligible to enter the transfer portal under NCAA rules, including those who use the NCAA’s special Aug. 3–10 portal window created in response to the ruling.

Who CAN’T transfer?
Players who missed the applicable transfer window or otherwise don’t qualify under NCAA transfer rules. The extra year of eligibility does not automatically give every player the right to change schools. The court specifically said it only granted the extra year—not a waiver of transfer, roster, or other NCAA rules.

Bottom line: The ruling gives eligible 2022 athletes another year to play, not unlimited freedom to transfer. Eligibility and transfer rules are two separate issues. Given that House previously entered the transfer portal, he could technically transfer elsewhere. I'm not aware of whether Johnston entered the portal or will use the NCAA’s special Aug. 3–10 portal window created in response to the ruling.

I count 15 players on our roster. Is Coach Richey going to kick a player off the roster to bring back House? Kick two players off to bring back House and Johnston, or do I not understand the roster limit rules?
