Training Camp Update (Indiana Pacers Day 4):

Lead Asst. Coach Lloyd Pierce on two-way wings Kobe Brown and Jalen Slawson:
"I think we’re seeing a real shift in trends on the two-way spots,” Pierce said. “In the past the D-League and G-League was used completely for player development. Now you’re seeing a lot of teams get those three two-way spots and you’re getting NBA-experienced guys."

As for Brown and Slawson, Pierce liked the development they had this summer and doesn’t see them as developmental players.

"When you walk into a gym you don’t look at Kobe and you don’t look at Slaw, you don’t say these are developmental players. These are roster guys that have NBA experience,” Pierce said. “They add positional size, length and versatility to our roster. We’ve had our hands on them all summer in terms of development and both guys are gonna be needed at some point this season.”

We'll see what the season brings, but from now it's really great to see Slawson in an environment where he's supported. Seems like he's making the most of his opportunity as well.

Pacers vs Mavs Jason got 16 minutes of PT scoring 4 points going 2 for 2 and grabbing 5 rebounds.

The home opener featured Haliburton's return, but the 121-105 loss took some of the shine off. Nevertheless, this final paragraph suggests Slawson could be looking at a breakout year:
Slawson and Jackson impress late
The comeback attempt fell short, but the Pacers still left here with something. Jalen Slawson and Quenton Jackson both brought a ton of energy and showed they want more minutes moving forward. Both guys were diving on the floor for loose balls, playing solid defense, and igniting the crowd that so desperately wanted to have something to cheer about. They were the only Pacer players in the plus in the net for the game.

To be sure, a Twitter/X post reports "Jalen Slawson gets a nice ovation from the fans after his second half performance. He exits the game with a minute remaining. " https://x.com/AlexGoldenNBA/status/2113809150048190613 The comments following the post are the best part ... all very complimentary of Slawson's performance.
