FU looked excited to play in Louusville and Nashville but looked totally uninspired in Greenville this weekend. Coming off 2 really good performances on the road FU was poised to have a statement weekend with 2 wins. Instead they pretty much fell on their face. The reason? Defense or lack thereof. They let 2 bad offensive teams set season highs. Radford, against 3 other d1 teams is averaging 41 points a game, against FU they scored 64. Their previous high was 52. Yet FU was not able to put them away until late. They followed this up with a 33 point performance against Navy and shot 23%. Radford is possibly the worse d1 team I’ve ever seen in Timmons. Ok hangover from giving the Belmont game away etc, etc. Oh no it got much worse today. Navy’s previous high was 66, they got 77 today. The best they have shot all year was 45%, today almost 61%. They scored 60 points in the paint. This just shows the deficiences of the in the paint defense. We could not stop their drives, one on ones, short jumpers etc. Why didn’t we go to a zone? They are not a good outside shooting team, yet they dominated on the inside and they had one 6’8 guy that hardly played. We are not a good man to man defensive team if the minds are not right. They obviously were not right this weekend. You just cannot lose home games like today if you want to get to the next level. We proved one thing this weekend and that is any team left on the schedule can beat us. Need to forget what happened in Nashville. Still a long way to go.
