Are the guys who are going to lose playing time to House and Johnston cool with this? FU is all about waiting for your turn, but some guys have waited and now they have to go another year?

Most posts on here are in favor of bringing these guys back but I say thanks for your time, but you need to move on.

I know Johnston won't be taking time from anyone else that is actually ready to contribute, we certainly need size down low badly!

Why would you not be in favor of having a deeper roster?

All the other guys just got granted another year of College Basketball (5 years total each), they will have plenty of time to shine ;)

Isn't House in the transfer portal? I don't see how he would be a starter over Bell or Bowser, as a veteran 6th man House could contribute but I really don't expect to see him suit up for the Paladins regardless of eligibility.

Why 'regardless of eligibility'??
He is not in the transfer portal anymore....... He (along with Johnston) is taking classes at Furman........
Did you see what Flagman said 2 days ago on this thread?

Here is how AI views this playing out as of today:

Based on how judges have ruled so far and the immense pressure on the college sports landscape, this will likely play out in a two-phase resolution: a fractured 2026–27 season followed by a permanent settlement.
Here is how the situation is expected to unfold:

## Phase 1: A "Patchwork" 2026–27 Season (Short-Term)

* The NCAA will avoid mass punishments: Even though the NCAA won a temporary stay in federal court, it is highly unlikely they will retroactively punish schools or strip wins from teams playing contested Class of 2022 athletes. The public relations blowback and threat of further antitrust lawsuits are too high.
* State courts will keep players on the floor: Judges in student-friendly states (like California and Ohio) will continue granting localized Temporary Restraining Orders (TROs). Because college sports are in the middle of a massive shift toward athlete rights, local judges are heavily inclined to protect individual players from "irreparable harm" (missing their final year of college).
* The Result: Tom House, Charles Johnston, and most of the 100+ plaintiffs will play this season.

## Phase 2: The Ultimate Settlement (Long-Term)

* The NCAA will capitulate: The NCAA cannot afford to fight dozens of separate state-level lawsuits simultaneously while also managing the fallout of the massive House v. NCAA revenue-sharing settlement.
* Grandfathered Eligibility: By the end of this academic year or sooner, the NCAA will likely settle these cases by grandfathering in the Class of 2022. They will formally grant a blanket fifth year of eligibility to this specific micro-generation of players to finally close the book on the pandemic-era eligibility mess.

Ultimately, courts have shown they no longer tolerate the NCAA strictly restricting athlete movement and eligibility. The players have the legal momentum, and the NCAA will almost certainly be forced to let them finish their careers on the court.

You’re way off base if you think House can’t be a starter. He was one of our most effective players in the SOCON tourney and NCAA game against UCONN.

I spoke with one of the two involved players at the football game and he is very encouraged, He said things are going well.
What does going well really mean? I feel for these guys. They or their attorneys have absolutely no control over what is happening. I still lay 100% of the blame for this mess on the NCAA.
I blame it on the courts(judges) they strike down anything the ncaa tries to do.

BTW there is a second vote on the ncaa bill coming up this week in congress. The schools, ncaa, nba, nfl, mlb are all supporting it so of course congress will screw it up.

House is a "3 and D" guy who doesn't rebound, and his shooting last year was really up and down. With the offense being built around Wilkins that worked at times, but his minutes declined towards the end of the regular season and then he basically came out of nowhere to be hot in the SoCon and ncaa tourneys.

That's a nice story and all, and as I said he'd be a valuable veteran contributor, but basketball offense requires that someone actually attack. 5 guys standing around the perimeter won't work. Wilkins is gone. Who is going to actually draw defenses to open shooters?

Not the new PG, he's a distributor first. The big guys won't be driving much from the perimeter. So basically both the 2 and the 3 need versatile offense in a base rotation. Maybe Richey will intentionally field a flawed lineup because someone had a few hot games but I doubt it.

My point is the NCAA started this mess by leaving out a group of players from the 5 in 5 rule. All the NCAA had to do was to include those players in the rule change and none of this would be happening. The NCAA owns this debacle, not the courts.

lol any rules change needs a cutoff, what the NCAA did was completely normal. They didn't break any real laws.

lol. They might not have broken any laws, but they certainly didn’t use common sense and they didn’t do the right thing for those players, for new players coming in, and for the teams involved. There was no reason to exclude the players from 2022. The NCAA appeals are going to run out and they will continue to payout millions only to lose.

I don't agree but even if so "common sense" isn't an independent cause of action, fortunately so or most people would spend every day in court.

Regardless of any of the BS, how awesome is it that Furman has guys like Johnston and House that want to come back to the school and play another year for Richey, we have built something truly special!
Take note that nobody else in the SoCon has that going for them ;)
