Given the new rules on the Furman campus, everyone is missing the obvious addition.

Beer Pong.

FCS Football Podcast with SoCon Commissioner - sure this is the Hoops section and this is Football-Centric, but this is on-topic for many of the things discussed here...so, it's here.

Mods - move it if you like. FUBeAR won't be mad at ya.

About a year ago I was called a troll, among other things, when I stated Furman’s enrollment was and has been lower than publicly advertised. Simply reading spun numbers on a website doesn’t make it fact, as many apparently have believed. FU has had under enrollment issues for almost five years now, and it’s caused financial issues that are being felt in every part of the university. I’ve been told the “target” enrollment is now 2,650, which would represent approximately a 15 percent increase over where it has been for several years.

The policy of reducing enrollment in order to increase exclusivity was shared by our current President to faculty and staff on numerous occasions over the past several years. This policy was a strange one given that our peer schools were seeking to retain/grow enrollment.

Methinks that was putting lipstick on the piggy yield numbers.

Furman needs to get to 2650 and maybe more.

As this is revenue/cost/athletics -related, throwin’ it in here…

WOW! Not an April Fool’s prank…

Only restrictions seem to be…

“Ticket-purchasing patrons visiting the concession stands will be able to acquire four items per concession stand visit from a selection of hot dogs, nachos, popcorn and fountain drinks. There is no limit to the number of in-game visits, but fans must scan each trip through the line with the soon-to-be-launched Coastal Carolina Athletics App.”

Another reason why FU needs a change at the top IMHO, which means nothing of course. Cue Affirm.

Through those scans they are going to gather a ton of data about visits, consumption habits, etc. etc. that they can use to improve services, marketing, and can probably premarket to customers or maybe even sell it. Smart.

Hopefully Mr Bain will recommend how to market to right kids to increase acceptance yield.

They've tried for years to target the Northeast. One way to target NE is to target sports popular in the NE

Such as

Mens LAX
Basketball (go all in on bball)
Mens and womens Ice hockey (doable with Bon secours)
Curling

Davy who is considered Dins closest peer institute with 1/2 the students offer mens wrestling, swimming and diving and baseball. On the womens side Field Hockey plus swimming and diving (no softball though). These are n top of the usual tennis, golf, XC, soccer, etc. They have a much larger endowment also

About Us

GoPaladins.com is the latest iteration of The Unofficial Furman Football Page. Launched in August of 1996, The UFFP welcomes fans of all FCS football teams - and fans of the more inferior sports, too - for discussion, cameraderie, and even the occasional smack talk.

For example, Furman has nearly twice as many Southern Conference football championships as the next best SoCon member, and over three times as many as The Citadel....which is why they must carry our luggage

GoPaladins.com is not affiliated with Furman University or its athletics programs.
