Yep CU went 50 years(9 games) without getting to 40 points against FU. They scored 41 and 48 the last 2 games. Time to start another streak.

Weather may cooperate a little but too early to tell. High’s only in the low 80’s with the ever present chance of showers/thunderstorms.

Furman played Clemson 19 times from 1919 through 1937, which was every year.
The W-L-T record in those 19 games was 10-5-4 in favor of Furman.
The average per game score was Furman 10 - Clemson 4.
1936 (12-0) was the last time Furman beat Clemson.
1937 was a 0-0 tie.
Since 1937, the W-L-T record has been 29-0-0 in favor of Clemson.
Nauseating.
On 9/10/2022, I do not think it will be as bad as 94-0 in 1915. But I will not be surprised if it is something like 57-0 (1914), 67-7 (1918), 57-2 (1950, or 56-3 (1959). We will be fortunate if it is as close as 7-48 (2018).

Clemson has zero chance
Agree, they have zero chance to lose. 🤣
apaladin FU taking this one in a landslide, our little brother Clemscum might not even bother coming back out for the second half after we start putting this whopping on them Saturday

I think we all sort of know what sort of fight we are in for on Saturday.

Our effort against NGU was far from perfect. There are a lot of mistakes to clean up. Some of those nifty runs by Huff aren't going to happen against Clemson.

It is a good opportunity for some of our players with NFL aspirations to show off against big time defensive players.

Like every one of these games - Furman is going to have to eliminate turnovers, duck the early haymaker, avoid the big momentum swinging plays, and keep things close in the fourth quarter.

I've learned not to get too far into my fantasy world when Furman plays an athletic FBS opponent.
My head is preparing for another trip to Death Valley to root for the DINS and enjoy another football game in person.

What could happen?

I've felt many times going into a Furman/Clemson game the matchups happened when Furman was in transition. In the last matchup, FU had Qb issues due to injuries, and the backups were youngsters. Furman had only 4 complete passes in that game. Our leading rusher was Deion Sanders, and DeLuca was the lone TD scorer. Clemson didn't have to worry too much about Furman breaking a big play.

It's still too early, but I would compare Huff at this stage to Blazeowski in 2017. We lost to NCST that year 49-16. The big question related to a matchup against a top-five FBS school is does this Furman team have the talent and depth to make it a game with Clemson?

I might change my mind after the GaTech/Clemson game tonight, but I see the Clemson O-Line against the Furtman D-Line as the matchup to watch. The DINS should match up fairly well against the Tiger's o-line. The next big question mark is can Furman contain Shipley? Furman has vastly improved its defense perimeter speed; is it enough?

I do think our sub-packages could prove tricky for the Clemson passing attack. In predictable passing situations, we could see a pick or two.

Lastly, can we put together enough offense to challenge the Tigers' defense?

I am not even sure we will need to gameplan for this one, as long as the FU bus shows up we can probably just out-athlete the tigers on Saturday with our superior talent level this year, death valley will be annihilated and conquered by the death dealers

Clemson is highly ranked, but I do not believe anyone came away this weekend super impressed with the ACC.

Honestly, I know they are top 5 in a lot of rankings, but I think the gap between UGA/Alabama and the rest of the top 10 is probably pretty massive.

Yes the rest of the ACC looks as bad as ever but unfortunately we are not playing the rest of the ACC.

I am still interested to see what our offense has in store for us with Kendall Thomas.

Prior to North Greenville, Hendrix stated that Thomas was about 80% and may not play. We obviously didn't need him with the depth we have at running back.

Every game isn't going to be like the NGU game, but I got the impression that we may be 4 or 5 deep at running back.

Thomas is a guy Hendrix has singled out a few times as being vastly improved. He's always had excellent pass catching skills, but it sounds like he's continued to develop as a runner as well.

I can't help but wonder if we may see Thomas utilized some like we see Roper use Wayne Anderson. Both have similar physical profiles (5'9, 195 speedsters with excellent hands).

Roper against NGU showed the willingness to get the ball to Anderson in space - throw it to him, toss it to him, whatever. I feel like Thomas brings a similar skill set to the table.

GoPaladins.com is the latest iteration of The Unofficial Furman Football Page. Launched in August of 1996, The UFFP welcomes fans of all FCS football teams - and fans of the more inferior sports, too - for discussion, cameraderie, and even the occasional smack talk.

For example, Furman has nearly twice as many Southern Conference football championships as the next best SoCon member, and over three times as many as The Citadel....which is why they must carry our luggage
