Won three straight Coach of the Year awards but finished 4-8 against a coach who never won such an award. Wanna guess who that is? His name starts with "B" and ends with "ob Richey." I hope "Bucky Ball" ready for SEC play, I'll personally be excited to see them go 1-19 in conference play.

Anyone rejoicing over this coach moving from SU to TAMU needs to keep in mind that other SoCon schools will be similarly celebrating Furman’s loss WHEN (not if) Coach Richey gets the offer he does not want to refuse. Our day will come. Enjoy Coach Richey while we have him.
No need to waste time celebrating SU’s loss.
One source states $1.5 million a year, 5-year deal for this former SU coach.
How close can Furman get to matching that to keep Coach Richey from leaving? Maybe 45% of that?
And also how close can Furman get to matching the NIL riches that exist at many schools (of which TAMU has to the potential to be at the very top)? Maybe 5% of what TAMU already does in NIL and maybe 0.05% of what TAMU has the potential to do in NIL?

After Chattanooga won the NIT Huff was asked about the portal. He tried to deflect the question but basically admitted that he would probably go into the portal to see what was available.

It was stated that while Davidson is now flush with cash, they are worse off than they were. They moved to another 1 bid conference where they aren't particularly competitive. They don't recruit high school players. The coaches spend their time in the recruiting portal and looking for European players.

Davidson is essentially operating in an arena where they have the money, but they are going head to head with all the major programs for limited availability (the portal). They aren't successful doing it. They've essentially jettisoned the model that made them successful for decades.

For what it's worth, the individual wanted Davison back in the Southern Conference. They aren't getting anything out of the A10.

A few thoughts on McMillian

1. High risk move for TAMU.

2. McMillian always strikes me as the Chris Hatcher of SoCon basketball. He runs a bit of a gimmicky system reliant on basically trying to run your legs off. Once teams know how to counter that (and Furman clearly has figured it out), you've got little ability to adjust.

There are a good many Davidson fans that want back in the SOCON. I hope the conference will nix a school that has already left twice .
