Recording Monday morning. I can tell you that we are going to spend a great deal of time talking about Timmons. How many other questions we get to? No idea. But leave a few here just in case.

Is the Bain (https://www.bain.com/industry-expertise ... education/) engagement at FU with their recommendations complete? If not, when is target completion date?

Will this study/recommendations be made available to the public? If not, how about alumni? If not, who will have access to this study/recommendations?

If complete, what are your comments regarding their recommendations and impact for FU overall?

If complete, what are your comments regarding their recommendations and impact for FU Athletics?

If complete, what are your comments regarding their recommendations and impact for FU Football?

If not yet complete, what are your preliminary comments on the 3 questions above?

It has been reported in the national press that more than a few NCAA D1 Athletics programs are seriously considering / evaluating moving to D2 or, FUBeAR believes, more so, to D3. Without commenting about FU Athletics specifically in this regard, what are your comments on the veracity of this reporting? If you find it all credible, what are your comments, again without commenting specifically about FU, regarding this, SPECIFIC, significant change in the landscape of collegiate athletics.

"Opt in" or "opt out" to House Settlement Compensation Model (RevShare) - where is FU on this? (This may have been announced and FUBeAR missed it).
Same subject - Have all other SoCon schools made this decision? If so, can you tell us which ones are IN or OUT (suddenly FUBeAR has a craving for a burger)?

What does opting in or opting out mean, as specifically as you can relate, in terms of the impact of this decision on Furman Football?

If some SoCon schools opt in and some opt out, what does that mean for competitive balance in the SoCon and, more broadly, in FCS Football?

Related to FUBear’s question

Is FU going to opt into the NCAA - NIL mandate…pay the $1 M to remain at our current NCAA Division level…or not pay and drop down a Division level?

What is the the stance of the SoCON and our current members?

FUBeAR edited his original post and added these questions while Choir Boy was drafting his questions. Great minds think alike, it is said. And these are great questions!

How is the academia attack on athletics coming along? I think you both said last time that the attack inparticular was against the football program.

Are there any plans to make new licensing apparel? The jerseys offered in the student store are not even in the current rotation!

Does the floor-plan for Timmons 2.0 include a bandstand for our Pep Band? If so, where will it be located?

Does the roof plan contain enough slots for banners? Such as NCAA and NIT banners? Plus Player nmber retirements?

What kind of hot dogs and pizzas will be served? Anyway there could be some philly cheese sandwiches?

My recollection was that in an ask the AD shortly after House was announced, Donnelly said we would pay what we needed to pay to stay in D1 (the 300k/yr in back payments to prior athletes pool) but that we would opt out of the revenue share going forward. My understanding is opting out of rev share has no impact on our ability to do NIL.

Now, there is a lot of water under the bridge since then. I'm not sure all SoCon schools are opting out of rev share. We may have reevaluated.

I think the administration thinks the value we get out of basketball is much greater than football in terms of brand exposure. But admin is reluctant to move FB down due to cultural factors and such... but we don't fund it in the way theat Mercer and others do.

I think the view on Football is short sighted. Very few schools that are investing in Football are not reaping significant returns. And if we are not going to pay rev share in hoops, you have to wonder how that is going to impact our ability to draw the talent we need.

I would hate to see us slide in both sports because we are not investing.

The football operating budget has not been increased in over 3 years The FFPA continues to make up the shortfall.

You can’t move football down without moving all sports down.

About Us

GoPaladins.com is the latest iteration of The Unofficial Furman Football Page. Launched in August of 1996, The UFFP welcomes fans of all FCS football teams - and fans of the more inferior sports, too - for discussion, cameraderie, and even the occasional smack talk.

For example, Furman has nearly twice as many Southern Conference football championships as the next best SoCon member, and over three times as many as The Citadel....which is why they must carry our luggage

GoPaladins.com is not affiliated with Furman University or its athletics programs.
