Good news, WC beat Mercer and ETSU beat Sammy and WCU is leading UTC but close. Now have a 3 game lead on Mercer and Sammy with 8 to play. A win Saturday t Mercer would be big.

Good to see Jordan L have a good boucne back game, 20 points, one TO, 3 steals.

Love the win but we tend to play down to bad teams. Never felt comfortable till the last 30 sec. Refs allowed alot of banging inside then called touch fouls. Some positives Jordan Lyons and Clay Mounce hit some key shots late. Matt Rafferty showed leadership stepping between Noah Gurley and a Citadel player. Matt is rock solid. Citadel is a bad team but its always fun to run these guys. Gotta get Mercer next.

I don't know if it is playing down to bad teams as just inconsistent offensive play from players not named Rafferty. Defense has been mostly consistent.

The Citadel was 6-3 against D1 teams in the pre-conference part of the schedule, including wins on the road at South Florida (14-6 overall) and Campbell (12-9 overall, 2nd place in their league and just beat first place Radford.) Their struggles in SoCon play is a measure of how the SoCon has improved.

Citadel was doubling up or tripling up on defense against Rafferty tonight and it was effective at holding down his scoring. The previous game against them Rafferty had a big game when they tried to play him with just one defender most of the time. If we had shot the three just a little better this would have been a 20+ win.

Lyons caught some heat after the last game. He stepped up late in the game tonight though. Multiple good plays down the stretch.

We've only had a few games when all 5 starters had good games. All have had MIA games except MR. Tonight it was Gurley's time to be MIA. 0 points 1 rebound in 17 minutes. Brown, though not a starter, also had an unusual below par game. When everyone is contributing we are pretty darn good.

Didn’t get to see much of the game tonight unfortunately, but did see Lyons pass up a three he normally would have taken in order to drive to basket, make a layup, get fouled, and sink free throw. Love it! Looks like he had a wonderful bounce back game. 50% from field we like. He’s really started to develop a nice drive to the hole game. Good road win! Let’s do it again Saturday.

Great team win...Lyons was great, and he was locked in all night...Mounce and Hunter were, too, and Rafferty also did many of the little things that helps facilitate a good road win...Also thought Tre Clark was solid once again defensively.

I'd like to see Lyons pass on more 3's. He shot 50 % last night. He was 3 of 10 from behind the arc and 5 of 6 from in front. What does that tell you? Croon and Sibley were great penetrators before him and their effective drives to the basket opened up uncontested corner 3's for other shooters when their defenders sagged back to help against the drive. Lyons is improving each game in that ability and can do the same. Citadel lives and dies with the 3 pointer. Last night they shot 26%. They lose. Mostly because of Rafferty, FU does not need to play that game.

Jordon Lyons impressed me with his defense also. He is a bulldog, agressive. Good to see him drive to the basket more. Jordon is a strong kid and hard to stop even with contact. Hope he continues this part of his game. Maybe work on those freethrows a bit but he's a warrior.
