How many of the 4000+ on Monday night were Wofford fans? This was our highest attendance yet at the Well this year. The more limited seating at Timmons will block most of those Wofford fans from attending a Timmons Arena game, thus making Timmons more of a home court advantage. Other than the Wofford game, the only other game that would have overflowed Timmons was the Princeton game at 3227. All other home games at the Well were in the 2000+ attendance. Most game nights, the new Timmons is the perfect size.
Wrong. Not many Wofford fans were there. 100 tops and I’m being generous. They don’t even show up at their place, you think they are coming to Greenville on a Monday night? They didn’t. Saturdays game with Chattanooga drew 4327 just 40 less than the WC game. Were there a lot of UTC fans? No not any. So 3 games that Timmons couldn’t hold. Monday has a very good point that I have said before. Oh yeah, 2 more games Timmons could not hold. Auburn 4,017 and Tulane 2,867. So 5 games Timmons won’t come close to holdng. Doubtfull Timmons will seat 2,500.

Have no doubt that Timmons is going to be very nice but it should seat more eveidenced by the 4,367 at the Well on a Monday night. Better to have the seats when you need them than to not hwve them. Of course if we continue to suck it will be too big.

It will be the right size to have a full arena most nights, and remember we can still play Wofford or anybody else that can draw 4,000+ downtown at Bon Secours Arena........... ;)
What's the point in dropping $40mil into an arena that won't have the capacity for our biggest games? We shouldn't need the Well again.

Is this a serious question? lol

Yes. Why put that much into an arena with LESS seating than it has now? From a revenue standpoint it doesn't make sense. Unless you jack prices and assume full capacity every game. But with the way we've been playing the past couple years we may look like Richardson with very minimum crowds.

The thing that bothers me is there will be no room to grow. Furman wants to be “Greenville’s Team” but sorry Greenville we don’t have any seats for you. Yes I am sure the jacking of prices is on the way.

I think it’s probably safe to assume, that with a $40 million project, a decent amount of money and effort has been spent on research and consulting to help decide what the seating in the arena should be. That ship has sailed, and it likely has reasons beyond our knowledge.

1) FU hoops is 15-4 this year with good wins over Princeton, Belmont, Tulane, ETSU and still 12 SoCon games to go, so you got that one wrong about 'The way we've been playing the past couple years'.........

2) We are spending money to renovate it as nice as possible and the capacity it will have of around 2,500 seats is right about the max that could fit into the existing structure.....

3) To build a brand new arena would have cost north of $100 million dollars and was out of our reach............

4) If we play a game that is obvious 4,000+ attendance (ie. Wofford or if we ever get to host another Power school like we did with Auburn for the exhibition) there is nothing wrong with playing a few games per year in downtown Greenville, its actually good for the brand overall to do that...............
