I also hear from reliable sources that there is good news coming for the OL room....TBA
Can confirm. Insinuated this a while back. Very good news.

Also, on the Ragano thing, don't forget that Coach Dudzik is a Northern Virginia guy and his family still lives up there too. He has a strong network in NOVA and gets us a lot of valuable guys from there that are not good fits at places like W&M. Hinton was one for instance.

Eddie Jackson also from Virginia (Richmond).

Reported offers from Akron, western Michigan, NM state, Louisiana Tech, and JMU. Not bad. Guy can definitely move. I wonder if the plan is to move him to LT and Brasher to RT?

We also have the OT from Wake Forest coming in. This is what I hate about the portal. A guy like Brasher has to be wondering if he will have a starting spot. Does he move inside which then put pressure on other FurMen.

All O-linemen should be wondering/worried. FU rushed for under 1,000 yds last season. Only 5 FCS teams accomplished this. FU ranked 119th out of 123 teams in FCS running the football. Only two FBS teams ran for under 1,000 yds. So in all of 257 D1 football teams FU was one of 7 that did not get to 1,000 yds.

It hasn’t happened a ton, but I agree with apaladin. After last year, OL and DB needed something. Competition should make us better at both spots whether the new guys win the starting job or drive the existing guys to improve and play better than they did this year. With that said, Brasher has started more games than those guys, so I hope he (and the rest of the guys) have the confidence to feel like they’re still going to go win that job. If they don’t feel that way, maybe they shouldn’t be starting anyways. That feels abnormally harsh for me to say but we can’t have another season like last year.

I know it’s not the traditional Furman way, but the game has changed. Furman is still going to lean heavily on development, but I don’t think they could just go into next year without changing anything and expect the amount of improvement we would have needed to be competitive for the conference again.

I don't believe in this circumstance it would be any different than any other position. Furman keeps recruiting every position. If you're the best guy come fall practice, you'll be the guy.

100%
Exactly

anyway. Yes, we need to be getting all the OL and DB help we can. And if you improve you will keep your spot. If not well we need the other guy. Because BOTTOM SEVEN in rushing of all D1 ain’t gonna cut it.

Run. Run. Run. Play action

Yep. Pretty poorly kept secret there. We should be a lot better at OT this year. Brasher could move inside.

These two OT cement this staffs obvious new philosophy at OL - If you are going to miss, miss big and long.

When they were listing the size of the Texas and Ohio State offensive line… I couldn't help but think about the size of the line Furman will have next year. Furman's O-Line will be longer, not as heavy, but longer. Throw in another 6-7 TE. We BIG!

Exactly, posted this in a thread a while back. The trend in philosophy here is unmistakable. They seem to have to have a VERY good reason last two seasons to take a guy under 6-4 at G or T. That is an intentional choice.

One thing noticeable about Davis Watson is he can run.

I suspect Furman is going to be targeting OTs that can get to the second level and cut off pursuit on these zone runs.

I still have no idea what the issue was with the run game, but I'm guessing with two potentially two transfer OTs, that may suggest some of it.
