If twitter follows are any indication, Furman appears like they are all over the transfer offensive linemen market.

Our current (as of end of this season) OL breakdown is:

R-Sr: 3
R-Jr: 2
R-So: 2
R-Fr: 3
Fr: 5

Probably unsurprising, but Furman redshirts every offensive linemen. I suppose that's indicative of the premium placed on experience at that position.
Hope our own guys do well and improve but glad to see this. Competition in practice is great. As is depth

CCH said on the news tonight he didn’t think they were that far away. 😳
I am not sure we are.
QB is talented, needs to mature and make better decisions with FB, also needs QB best friend, a running game.
RB we should get our best RB back from Injury, Hall has bright future, and Nettles adds something not really on roster now.
OL - current crop gets another year in S&T, more experienced, and portal help
WR - We are good and solidly two deep there, and more help on way. But Hinton, E. Harris, Ferguson, Holbrook, Hamilton and Hester is already a solid group who will be better and smarter and more experienced.
TE - Pryor can be a star and Chappel is solid. If we get the fSU kid back...
K/P/LS - All conference level returning
DE - IF we get X that extra year, we get everyone back but JJ. Bussey has emerged as a potential starter. I like what we have there.
BAN - Maier can be better than Clark, and Clark is All conference.
LB - Dimaggio will not be "replaced" bur Ryan Earl has a bright future and Achina was solid when healthy. Earl needs to take a step and be the guy at Mike see we can Achina back out on the weak side.
CB - Moson needs to come back healthy. The other side is probably portal. Dalton is good depth. Coleman will play.
S - Caleb Williams is a Sr. and the other starter should be AK Burrell. Billy Lewis had a couple of good games but has some limitations. Tre McLeod can help here too.

So yeah, if we ring the portal bell at OL and DB... this can be a very good team. How good, well we leaned this year that that can be a fine line at times. But it could be conference contention good. The schedule sets up better and we will have a lot of talented depth back.

I agree.

We were incredibly young this year across multiple positions. At one point, we were playing our 5th string at Bandit. We are going to see those guys make big improvements prior to next season, where we'll return just about everyone.

Above all, though, Furman has got to figure out what went wrong with the running game. So much of what we want to do as a football team hinges on successfully running the ball. Whether it's a scheme, personnel, or talent problem, we need to get it fixed.

QB-we need a dual threat at the QB position. Current QB’s don’t seem to be a run threat but who knows
RB-need at least one or two big Robertos. One that can get a yard or 2 on his own. Current group are all small.
OL-hope they can get better but TBD. If not above 2 won’t matter much.
WR- serviceable group but need speed and size. Deep threat left with Harris. No one can get behind opposing dbs.
TE-Burrell will return to make this the best and most solid position group.
K/P/LS-Good, but bad punts and missed fgs cost us a couple times.
DE-Good potential. Need to work on pass rush.
BAN-hope Maier is back and healthy. Need depth.
LB-we seem to always come up with good ones, will need to replace a really good one.
CB-need the most help here. Tired of seeing cbs getting beat by 10 yards. You can’t teach speed. Need a lot of help.
S- same as CB above but maybe in a little better situation.

I’m not convinced we are developing or recruiting well at OL. It seems we’ve swung and stuck out on the OL. Only 2 left in 2022
Class. Only one repping in 2023 class. Transfers not panned out. One did well (but got Huff hurt at Chatt) and couldn’t cut it academically. We went multiple games with errant snaps. CCH only to acknowledge it 3 games in. We have a LOT to be desired at OL. Something is off. Not sure if CCH is meddling or FU is just hard to get the right group in the modern era. Perhaps Roberto must us look good. No actual run threat at QB made RPO academic. No O. Might as well crash R. Very disappointed in reps to develop down the line with games out of hand. Truly shaking my head.

yep. We were literally playing with half a play book. Worst rushing in 20 years or something.. still can't believe we had ONE RUN THAT GAINED MORE THAN TWENTY YARDS. ONE ( I got that from AP). that is halloween-level scary. as in HORRIBLE. no run game. only a pass game. sheesh

Hope it's better next year. Get some OL in the portal. It gives you options and depth. Fred NOrman worked out great.. until he was gone a year early. Strength and Conditioning and LEARNING with the existing guys. But I think we HAVE to get the portal on OL.

I do think Moson will help at DB. He was coming along

The excuse all year was youth and injuries, mostly youth. Will all the young players be better next year? Maybe, maybe not. Some positions showed little to no improvement as the season progreesed so doubtful they will be better come fall. Obvioulsly the 2 glaring weaknesses on O and D were size and speed. Might can get a little bigger but not faster.

I try to leave you alone because you are who you are, but this is not based in reality or fact. All people are capable of getting faster to a point. Technique changes, strength gains (in the right places), and explosiveness through speed/plyometric training can create changes in speed. Yes, there is a genetic predisposition in all people that can determine their top end capabilities, but most 18-19 year olds (which a lot of the guys playing by the end of the year were) are still very much developing. I doubt ALL of our players have maxed out developmentally.

Therefore, for you to suggest we can’t get faster is not fact.

Will we get faster? Maybe not, but it is possible. There is no guarantee that any player on any team will get better in the off season.

Also when you get more experience you PLAY faster. Fewer false steps, bad angles, etc….
Correct.

If we get beat on a deep pass play, it's not necessarily because the other team has faster players than we do. Sometimes its because we have younger players unsure of where they are supposed to be and when they are supposed to be there.
