Game notes are up: https://furmanpaladins.com/documents/20 ... _Notes.pdf

More shuffling on the depth chart. O'Dell is back on the depth chart at RG. Hamilton is starting over Hester and Holbrook is listed as the starter but got the "or" designation with Ferguson. Kauserud listed at the starter at NT with the "or" designation with Hernandez. I assume Dudek is hurt as he's not even on the 2 deep. Billy Lewis may have won the starting job at FS over McLeod but does have "or" designation as well.

11 of the 22 starters are true sophomores or younger.

VMI in 8 games has scored 91 points, 8 tds, averaging 11 ppg. They scored a third of their points(28) and half of their tds(4) against Bucknell. In six of 8 games they have scored 10 or fewer points with 16 against WC being their best outside of Bucknell. Besides Bucknell they have scored 4 tds in 7 games. We are averaging giving up 36 ppg. Interesting matchup their O against our D.

I take out Ole Miss and OOC.

In conference play VMI is averaging scoring 10 points a game. Over 4 games

In conference play - only 3 games since no Samford- we have averaged allowing 36 points per game. Sheesh. 52 to Western. 41 to Chatts and 16 to Citadel.

Yep it’s the movable object - our D - vs the stoppable force. Their O.

I still feel we win if we can score in the 20s

My bird's eye view.

VMI is not particularly good, but many SoCon teams have struggled against them in their home park over the years. It's not an easy place to win.

The Keydets are going to try to make this an ugly football game. They want to do to Furman what the Citadel did - stuff the run, pressure the QB, and try to get Furman's offense out of rhythm and off schedule. They know we have a lot of young guys, and they are going to try hard to speed up everyone's decision making.

Furman has got to be prepared for this. Be prepare for them to get in our face. Be prepared for them to come hard off the edge.

Furman would like to make this a track meet. We saw last year VMI struggles to cover our receivers downfield. We've got to get the run game going, whether we try to bludgeon them with Hicks or stretch them with Hall, we've got to start getting guys to the second level on runs.

I think the off week came at a good time for us. We've got more youth in the game today than I can remember ever seeing from a Furman team, but that provides some opportunities for us.

They'll see this as a winnable home game in a season without a lot of winnable home games. We'll get everything they've got.

Completely agree and second the comment about OL climbing to the second level.

I'd be happy to see O-line attacking the 1st level.

I'm interested to see if we aren't a little looser today.

I thought for the first half of games we may have been carrying around the burden of trying to be last year's team. I'd like to see this team embrace their own identity out there. We've got a lot of young guys. There's really no more pressure to replicate last year.
