Absolutely, thoroughly disgusted with Furman basketball. Lost 5 of last six games, and now 1-4 in SoCon play with tonite's loss to App State on the road. @#$%^&*()_

Since 1980 there have been 26 years where FU basketball won 15 or fewer games. I still like this team.
Agreed! I likek this team too. Need Gurley and Mounce to be top of ther games defensively. Clark is an added dimension and can be a defensive stopper. Lyons probably does not get the credit he deserves for his defense and leadership

Both Gurley and Lyonsn give us some needed emotional boosts as the others are more quiet. We need their energy and personality

I think I remember this post.

I definitely remember thinking in the following seasons when FU improved that it will be easier to go from the basement to the upper half of the conference than it will be to go from within the upper half to the very top (i.e., get the conference's NCAA bid).

I couldn't be more positive about FU hoops right now...Listen, this is the best the SoCon as a whole has been in my lifetime and Furman is in the mix...I don't really care about whether or not Furman wins the regular-season crown...The tournament matters! Win it!

Clark is FU's best defender and there is not much of a debate...Hunter maybe...But what I have seen of Clark, he's a lot alike Daniel Fowler as a defender and maybe a hair quicker!!!

My post from 10 years ago today:

“went to Furman game--lost to Citadel in OT. Now 2-12 and winless in the SoCon.”

Last year after 18 games we were 13-5.

Then we lost 4 Sr’s of arguably our best class since the 70s. And we all thought we’d take a step back.

Now we are 15-3.

A given that we’ll post our 3rd 20-win season in a row after a grand total of 2 in the 35 years prior to this run.

Here are some of the D-1 records of teams we've beaten:
UNCA 0-14
USC-Upstate 2-13
Elon 3-14
VMI 3-11
CSU 3-9
WCU 4-14
Mercer 4-11
UNCW 6-11
Plus:
Bob Jones University
Southern Wesleyan
North Greenville

That's 11 of Furman's 15 wins against total cupcakes.
Let's face it a huge factor in the recent number of "wins" has been due to playing one of the weakest D-1 schedules in the country. Sagerin has Furman's schedule at #303 in the country and that doesn't include the three automatic wins against non D-1 opponents.

How bad is that ? 25 years ago there weren't even 250 teams in all of D-1. 10 of Furman's 18 opponents this year were playing D-2, NAIA or didn't even have a team 25 years ago !

I didn't see Gardner-Webb, Nova or Loyola on there...figures...We can all look at things differently...Wofford's best non-conference wins were over SC and High Point...come on dude!

Wofford's win over SC is looking more impressive at this point.

We blew out most of those teams

As a matter of fact we use to be one of those teams for the majority of the last 25 years until we turned the corner 4 years ago
