Wofford shoots 17-33 (51%) from 3 and LOSES……

You could make an argument that Wofford's Filewich outplayed Samford's Achor at the post. Filewich, one of the least athletic bigs in the conference, had 10 points and 10 rebounds in 28 minutes. Achor, maybe the most athletic big man in the league had 7 and 8 in 31 minutes. Not that Achor did not have an major impact. he added 8 assists to Filewich's 6 assists and of course Achor hit the game winning, last second layup after getting a pass from his team mate.

Surprising that Wofford lost that way with as much and as well as they sag inside and double team in the paint.

Sammy wins by 22 at UTC.
WC beats WCU at home by 2 in OT. WC is beginning to get on my nerves. They look a lot better than earlier in the season.

I have watched the beginning of several Samford games. In many of the wins they start the game with a flurry of made threes while their opponents struggle with the Samford defensive pressure. Some of them even panic a little. When we knocked them off they did not have a good shooting start and we didn't panic with their defense. Several of the teams that struggled early settled down and came back but not all the way. Happened yesterday at Chattanooga too. I think a key to success against their pressure is to have solid hall handlers at multiple positions. It also helps to understand that they are very aggressive and will attack from the blind side whenever they can. That leaves guys open if you stay cool and alert.

Western Carolina has lost several games lately but their last five losses have been by an average of 3 and a half points. Those losses came after a 9 game winning streak. No matter the record they are a very dangerous team the rest of the way.

Chattanooga depends on the threes. That is their strength and their weakness,.

After today our first round opponent will one of the other top 6 teams, no chance for second and an easier first round game. Need to beat Mercer and ET this week to solidify a top 6 finish. Both still have a chance for a top 6 seed while Citadel and VMI do not.

Wofford/Furman vs. Samford/Mercer/citadel

Not saying I want to finish fifth, but I would take this path to the championship in a heartbeat.

Sammy running away with first place. Won at uncg so now 2 games up on UTC and Uncg, really 3 as they hold the tiebreaker. Utc wins at VMI by 4. SU now 21-3. Won 21 of 22 with the only loss at FU.

I'd say we could do well with schools like Winthrop and UNC-Asheville.
