In case you didn't remember, if you are a season ticket holder then your ticket to this first playoff game is included as part of your package. I noticed that our tickets are already available and I just downloaded mine to my phone. Go to Online Ticket Portal and select "My Events".
Reminder too that game 5 is the parking pass for this game.

2019 Furman at APSU:

Our Offense sucked. Neither QB could make anything happen, though HS appeared the lesser of the two evils. Last game for DG in a Furman uniform.

Defense hung tough in the first half, but saw it was not going to get any help from the O and finally gave up. We were ready to board the Last Train from Clarksville long before the final horn.
That 2019 game has as much to do with a potential 2023 matchup between FU & APSU as does Fly Williams

Bring our A game and we can beat either Chatt or AP. Playing some of the “easy” teams in first round might get you warmed up but we needed bodies to heal.

A playoff win to make it to the quarters would be a great accomplishment. We control our own destiny. We need to seize the opportunity!

Knowing Tyler Huff will play is very re-assuring.

There are only 2 current APSU players that were on the 2019 team and 1 did not play in that game and a completely new coaching staff. Advantage Furman. We have 6-7 players that played in that game.

Dunno 'bout that ...

If General Custer and 6-7 of his Federal Troops were returning to the Battle of the Little Big Horn, Part Deaux and the Home Team only had, say, Sitting Bull & Crazy Horse returning, would that, necessarily be viewed as an advantage for the 7th Cavalry?

Just sayin'

This is a different APSU coaching staff (head coach) than the staff we played in the playoffs.
I'll also add that Furman's team was less athletic than this year's.

The FU/Chatty game was a very physical game, and I expect the APSU/Chatty game to also be physical. My point I think they beat each other up a bit, and then the winner comes to town. I expect our defense to bring its A-game. I'm also going to think positively that we get our injured healed up, and bring what we're capable of as an offense.

It goes without saying Clay was frustrated after the Wofford loss. Furman under CCH has always responded well after situations like this. I expect we'll see a much better effort.

A note about that game -

The final score was ugly, but it was 7-3 at half time.

The game was played in the rain. On the road.

We had our split freshmen QBs with Grainger and Sisson. Our offense, if you all remember, was not exactly stellar that season. APSU also had some lightning quick specialist that started to break some long plays in the second half. Our offense just didn't have enough get up and go to keep up.

Interestingly, we have a number of guys (Anderson, Roberto, Chizik, Blackshear, Miller, Gilby, Sochovka, and Barton) that played in that game.

This will be a different set up.
Right. But let’s be objective.

Is it any different now? I really ask.
We beat ETSU 16-8. Only common opponent. Sixteen to 8.
Ap beat ETSU SIXTY THREE to 3. Their offense has shown MUCH more get up and go. Their O is freakin scary.

I mean, is our offense stellar this season? No it is not. Amazing defense. Am@ing. But the close scores result from our offense inability to distance ourselves

People say that last game between them and us is irrelevant. I can go with that

The most relevant piece we have is the one common opponent.
Furman 16- ETSU 8
APSU. 63. ETSU 3

There is some relevance. We couldn’t have scored 60 points given 8 quarters of play. It’s just true

People were worried about Western’s scary offense with all the big numbers they were putting up on their opponents. We handled it.

When are you gonna learn….you can’t cherry pick one game and apply transitive properties.

Going into last week we could have said hey ETSU beat Wofford 41-10 and we beat ETSU 16-8, therefore…..

So much of this game is mental and intangible you just can’t pick a game from 3 months ago and have it mean crap.

APSU scored 14 points in their last ( must win) game. They are a good football team as is everyone else in the playoffs. If they beat Chatt, we will match up just fine.If we win you can then begin worrying about our next unbeatable foe 🙂.

Right. Which is better than whomever was positive and bought plane tickets to Frisco prior to wofford. Now that was dumb. 😀 That is a jinx of death. And it cursed us. lol

Secondly. You guys are making huge assumptions. Why are you talking about Montana? I don’t mean can WE get there. I mean who’s to say they - MONTANA - even win?? I’ve heard 10-15 posts yapping about Montana this and that. Who says they even win their first game ? I find it funny you assume we will win AND they win too. Now I admit I fully agree Montana wins - hear me on that - but just funny no one has barely mentioned the UM opponents. Personally I think UM and SDSU are the best right now. SDSU definitely.

Anyway we just need to focus on AP and UTC. Talk of Montana brings in hexes and jinxes

Now wait. FUBeAR substantiated the entire SoCon and Furman with a decades worth of data. So going back TEN YEARS or something.

At least mine was THIS year. And, like his data, it’s the best I’ve got - I can’t help when we nor AP played ETSU. I wish there was more relevant data but this is all we have

I think. We can beat UTc or AP. I think we can lose to both. All these teams are really good. Our D has certainly shut down some great O like WCU and can do it again
