Well every one knows that WCU is a one man team and can’t win without Reid so if he is not playing I rescind my previous stetement and predict a Mercer win. Also WC, VMI, and ETSU become tossups.
If that's all you gleaned from that game prediculation, you get a D- in the FUBeAR / Evelyn Woodhead Reading Comprehension course.
Just going by what WCU fans were usng as an excuse for last weeks loss. If Reid plays WCU wins easily at least according to them.
Wisdom of the day: Don’t repeat what fools say, lest you be confused with them.

Is it better for us if Mercer or WCU wins? Mercer win takes western out of SoCon race…. But Mercer win takes the luster off us beating WCU?

It probably helps the SoCon in terms of getting playoff teams in. Mercer can potentially get to 8-3 and would now have a win over a ranked team, which has eluded them.

It kinda stinks for Western, who is in a spot to get a seed and put the SoCon up for a long run.

Today was almost a disaster for the conference with UTC and Furman both kind of stinking it up. If Furman, Western and UTC had all lost on the same day, it would have been awful for the conference.

Well, Western lost. So the UTC game will just about be a de facto game for the SoCon autobid. Furman will now hold tiebreakers over Western and Mercer.

South Dakota, who was right behind Furman in a lot of polls, got hammered by South Dakota State.

So, that may give the Paladins comfort that they aren't likely to get jumped this week.

……and FU will likely move to number 2. WCU blowing their seed today means the committee will send the WCU first round game winner to FU.

Not sure I want WCU again. Can they do that - same conference teams face off - in round 2 ?

Granted, this is getting waaaaaay ahead

No big deal. We will just have to beat them again. Seriously, there are no easy wins in the playoffs, so it doesn’t matter who we play, as long we as do so at home.

They can and will put 2 SOCON teams against each other in the 2nd round. That is almost a guarantee. Could be either Western or Mercer. Western’s loss today almost guarantees a SOCON rematch for somebody against Furman.

They avoid rematches as much as possible in round 1, but not in the second round.

Agree with AP, we'll probably move to #2 with SD and MSU getting beat. That game today was way too close for comfort. Whew. Playbook was vanilla and Huff told not to run today. I can live with it. Hope no pollsters watched.

We'll need our A game next week and I'll think we'll have it. Hope Blackshear and Toomey can play but Blackshear might be out.

Furman will be fired up and the playbook will be wide open. You can count on it.

WCU is almost assured of a seed as they have no one left on their schedule. Most likely they will finish 9-2.
Not very likely.

Welp - this is the big one this weekend folks. Can WCU recover from the physical beating they took last Saturday?

FUBeAR tried to tell 'em not to play Reid last week as he's now reinjured himself and, almost certainly, made it worse.... "Oh no, FUBeAR, it's not even the same injury. Coach Bell said it was a different injury... (to the same hamstring on the same leg) ...y'know...it's really a different injury...because we would have never played him if that previous injury wasn't 100% healed. Just because we viewed that game as the SoCon Championship Game and our mantra the entire season has been "Championship or Bust," we would never have rushed him back into action."

So...anyhoo...WCU is beat up and they are going to be without their best Player (for a while, one would imagine...and one would hope UNTIL he is 100% ready to play). Their O sputtered against the #2 Ranked Defense in the SoCon last week. How do we think they are going to do against the #1 Ranked SoCon Defense this week...as banged up as they are? Better than last week or worse? Y'know how the optometrist does with the 2 lenses..."Better or Worse...Better...Worse" - FUBeAR just doesn't see how WCU can be better. WCU has gotten better at stopping the run (not that we could tell last week), but they have, so Mercer will not be able to run the ball as well as FU did or as well as they would like, but they will be able to run it well enough for the Catamounts to have to put 7 in the box ... and that's Mountain Music to the combo of James, Harper, and Peevy.

FINAL SCORE: Mercer 27 - WCU 17
Excellent prediculation Bear.
