This young man really came into his own today. Not only did he make several key receptions among his 5 catch production but the one he made in the end zone right before the half was nothing short of spectacular. A falling backward, one handed grab with one foot left in the zone should make highlights of TV sports shows. That TD turned out to be the difference in the game. A star may have been born today.

Absolutely. My no-knowledge self was even impressed. That TD drive was ALL HIM

If I recall he had a really tough sideline catch prior to the freakish TD catch

What's also crazy about that TD catch is Huff's throw. Ferguson had a dude hanging all over him and Huff put it on his shoulder where only Ferguson could catch it.

He’s a Sophomore!
Correct. I have been hearing about him from the players since he arrived. They rave about him and his ability to catch anything thrown in his vicinity - and his running and juking ability after the catch. He played a bit last year as a Freshman but was not thrown to very often. That has improved somewhat this year. That needs to change. We miss Miller this season and his quick strike capability and Ferguson could well be the answer. We have 3 very good young receivers right now who could greatly improve the offense of this team and the optics that many are complaining about.

Ferguson's got a lot of Ryan Miller in him. He plays a lot taller than his 5'11 frame.

Coach has said it a number of times, but this is the deepest we've been at WR in probably decades. Even when Harris went out, guys were just stepping up.

So - prolly not the right place for it given the thread title, but FUBeAR has been very impressed with Luke Shiflett all season.

He’s been blocking angry and running after catch angry. FUBeAR likes seeing WR’s that play angry - Randy Moss, TO, Michael Irvin, OchoCinco, Steve Smith - those guys were ANGRY WR’s.

Made some big catches and picked up some important angry yards for the Paladins yesterday. Love to see us keep feeding that angry beast…and increase his rations. He’s making good things happen & DB’s do not like tackling him.

Speaking of WR, interesting post here from Keeler:

Harris catches the ball. Has his foot down in bounds. Takes two or three steps out of bounds while in possession of the ball. Then drops the ball as the Samford DB drags him to the ground.

At some point, Harris caught the ball in bounds, took three or four steps with possession, and then dropped it when he got dragged to the ground. Why isn't that a catch?

The ref just turned around and saw the ball loose and made a really bad call.

A friend of mine in Nebraska emailed me and told me he saw Ferguson’s catch on espn, said it was an Odell Beckham like catch! I agree.
