Even in a week of supposed blowouts we will learn more about each team. Do they roll or does one of them get pushed ? Does one of the bottom 4 show signs of life? Who improves?

If I had to pick one, Mercer/VMI could end up being closer than expected. The Keydets are not terrible defensively. They've got a decent QB. They don't run the ball particularly well and struggle to find the end zone.
Mercer is good, but their offense isn't setting the world on fire. They've been held under 20 points in three of their four games this season.
I think Mercer will win, but when you look at the numbers you can see a world where VMI can hang around late in a low scoring contest.

Citadel down 14-7 to WCU end of 1st quarter. Citadel has had 2 TD’s called back on questionable calls. SoCon refs continue to be the worst.
Citadel defense slow with poor tackle technique. Corners playing 10-12 yards off WCU receivers. Citadel won’t fare well in a track meet type game.
Samford scored 1st two times they got the ball to begin the 2nd half. Now up by 14 on ETSU , 35-21.

Observationally, I think Furman has a significant advantage against maybe everyone but WCU in terms of overall team speed. On both sides, we have a good combination of fast and physical.
