I believe Harvard has the top rated recruiting class in the FCS this year.

Yes Harvard is top ranked so far with a 3 star QB leading the way, Furman is ranked #7. Clay and staff doing well.

Fantastic when we are “within 6” of Harvard on any positive ranking.

Where are you seeing that? I just did a glance at 247 (see below) & that not lining up with what I see there. They show Harvard with 8 3-Star Commits. By the way, FUBeAR puts absolutely no Football value on any of this Recruiting Ranking mumbo jumbo..but it’s still fun.

247 FCS Top 30 (from FUBeAR’s quick glance)...

1. Harvard
2. NDSU
3. Yale
4. JMU
5. Illinois St
6. UT-Martin
7. UC Davis
8. Eastern Wash.
9. Howard
10. Kennesaw St
11. Princeton
12. Holy Cross
13. Montana St
14. Central Ark
15. Montana
16. Northern Iowa
17. Richmond
18. Indiana State
19. Morgan St
20. Mercer
21. Idaho St
22. Southern Illinois
23. Jacksonville St
24. Wofford
25. Idaho

Does anyone REALLY believe that Harvard has better football recruiting than NDSU ??

I struggle with that one. Do we really believe Harvard could beat everyone in FCS by 30+ the way NDSU does ?

I don't see it

And I absolutely have ZERO confidence in 24/7....they only show 3 commits....so of course we're 26th.....they don't even have Josh Slay as a commit.

I somewhat trust the HERO sports list because at least there is SOME rigor around their process.

I see. Guessing, they are pretty much using 247 data & tweaking it with their thoughts. More current info at 247, but, again, IMHO, all a bunch of meaningless mumbo jumbo.

I think they actually follow it....if all they use is 24/7 how would they know about Slay....Austin Jones....etc...

Yeah - you’re right. Brian does all that Tweeting/ReTweeting of Commits - so I guess he is capturing that data (he’s a hard working dude & GREAT for FCS Football). Probably cross referencing that with 247 & maybe Rivals (they’re still around, right?)...but now that I think about it, I think he’s ‘engaging’ with the kids and asking them about other offers and such. HERO may be better mumbo jumbo after all. Does seem that 247 is a bit broader in coverage though...and a lot more searchable/sortable mumbo jumbo.

I agree I know for a fact that Brian doesn't just rely on star ratings 0 he's also taking into account - who else offered, how many are FBS offers, who are the schools. He made a comment about SLay who has over 26 offers not having any star rating from 247 is a head-scratcher.

IMO Furman is higher than #7 when you take into account the Toomey commit he was an ARMY de-commit and I believe had at least nine other offers.

About Us

GoPaladins.com is the latest iteration of The Unofficial Furman Football Page. Launched in August of 1996, The UFFP welcomes fans of all FCS football teams - and fans of the more inferior sports, too - for discussion, cameraderie, and even the occasional smack talk.

For example, Furman has nearly twice as many Southern Conference football championships as the next best SoCon member, and over three times as many as The Citadel....which is why they must carry our luggage
