Furman 7
USC 40
Honestly surprised you think we'll score.
I hope we'll score more than once. Maybe we can at least get a field goal in addition to my predicted TD and PAT. But I'm not predicting that. I still say 7.
I also think that hopefully, once they're about 25, ahead they will let up somewhat and start focusing on UGA. Maybe we can hold them to about 31 or 34 points. But I still say 40.
Furman 7
USC 40
I would be dreaming if I were to predict Furman 10 - USC 31.
But dreaming is way more fun, and sometimes it comes true like 1982.
I don't try to make accurate predictions for this game.
My prediction is 100% based on pride with 0% devoted to any reality.

But part of the reality is that last year was one of the greatest years in FU football history and
I'm smelling future Hall of Fame for a particular individual and this game might just make that clear to everyone.
OK. Here’s my dream: Furman 31 - USC 21
But it IS a dream, not a prediction

It'll be an uphill climb, for sure. However, I think this Furman team is pretty good.

I don't think this South Carolina roster is one of those where you can't help but trip over a 5 star recruit. As FuBear noted, their two potential starters at LT are from bad lower level programs. The LG is from Yale. A starting WR from James Madison. The other starting WR is listed at 5'9, which is shorter than both our starting CBs. They have a starting TE from Western Kentucky. Their backup QB caught three passes last week.

Along the defensive front, they really aren't any bigger than we are.

Their DE is 6'3 270. Ours is 6'4 265.

Their interior defensive linemen at 6'3 285 and 6'5 298. Ours are 6'4 296 and 6'3 296.

Their starting EDGE is 6'5 243. Ours is 6'3 250.

The one dude on the defense that looked on paper like he was going to be a matchup problem, their 6'3 220 lb safety (Emmanwori), is listed as out with injury.

USC has some excellent special teams players, but so do we.

From my seat, I see a team that really isn't going to have a huge physical advantage over us. They rely on a lot of inexperienced players and FCS/G5 transfers. They have a fair number of players out with injury. They played objectively poorly last week.

If we don't turn it over, run the ball like we are capable, and keep Rattler from taking over the game, I think we'll be in at the end.

This USC team is beatable so why not us tomorrow? If USC is turning the ball over like Clemson did against TCU, anything can happen. I still think the play of Tyler Huff will be one of the biggest factors in the game. If he plays well and we win the TO battle I like our chances.

Furman 24
USC 21
Absolutely agree about Huff.

I think this week reminds me a lot of the Incarnate Word game with a potent passing attack but holes elsewhere. Furman will need to come out hot and find ways to make stops on 3rd and 4th downs. Let Huff take over the game, but Roberto will need to be a force to help keep the SC offense off the field. I don’t think Furman wins in a shootout, much like that Incarnate Word game.

SC does get a startng linebacker back thst didn’t play last week. Somehow, someway we need to kerp Rattler from passing us silly,

I think the game will be whether Furman can establish their run game and Furman can stop Rattler.

Furman D forces 3 and out.

I love what I see. Huff is poised and calm.
