Colton Hinton is going to score a lot of touchdowns for the Paladins. He has crazy acceleration.

I think Hinton is one of those guys that will make our offense just that much tougher to defend.

Fred was gettin busy in the backseat of a 1970 Pontiac when Furman MBB won the conference in 1980. Fred is now on Flowmax and Cialis to celebrate our signature program winning the conference in 2023.

Updated below based on Coach Beamer’s Press Conference today - not that FUBeAR believes him. Coach Beamer has been around long enough to know this game is a MUST WIN for his Program.

Let's look at it. Here's the "Official" injury report...

OL/OT - Starter - Cason Henry - OUT
DB/SS - Starter - Nick Emmanwori - DOUBTFUL
WR - Starter - Antwane "Juice" Wells - No Restrictions
WR - Starter - Ahmarean Brown - No Restrictions
WR - Starter - Xavier Legette - Not mentioned; assuming No Restrictions

OL/OT Starter (2022) - Jaylen Nichols - OUT

LB - Backup - Mohamed Kaba - OUT
OL/OG - Backup - Markee Anderson - DOUBTFUL
LB - Backup - Jatius Geer - DOUBTFUL
DB/Nickel - Backup - David Spaulding - DOUBTFUL

OL/OT - Reserve - Ryan Brubaker - OUT

So...in actuality, while they will cry and moan - FUBeAR doesn't see a lot here.

They are down a bit in their depth chart in OT's and we know they gave up some sacks to UNC - so... thinking BIG NIGHTS for Jack Barton and Luke Clark!! RELEASE THE HOUNDS!!!!

And they might be down a bit in their WR corps - which would be VERY helpful - SEC WR's are problems...let's hope they have to dip into the well of those 17 WR's they have on their roster.

Winning the SoCon is great and NEEDED!
But if we are being honest it's the Power conference wins that cause people to take notice and really put a program on the map, that's just a fact ;)

Can anyone offer advice on getting to/from William Brice Stadium? I’ll likely be staying overnight downtown.
1) is there free or inexpensive parking anywhere near the stadium or on campus? I see the Fairgrounds lot is $50.
2) if staying downtown, would it be easier and cheaper to just get an Uber/Lyft to the stadium? Also is there a designated rideshare lot for pickup?

Thanks.

Will the FU band be at the game?
Prolly not a good idea unless we can oufit a high school band and take them with us to shore up the numbers.

Game notes:
Toomey is listed as a starter, Norman listed as second team.

Awesome. I see Anderson too. Great.

Anyone missing other than Johaanning??
I'm guessing Achina, might not be a go for Saturday.
Achina was on crutches after tweaking a foot.

Freshman Colton Hinton has officially made the 2-deep listed as -or- with Anderson.
Astro, thank you for the inform. Appreciate it man !

I wondered about Achina. I recall he played early v Clemson last year and got hurt.. so I figured he was at least a two deep guy and then couldn’t find him on field in later quarters v TTU

OUT NOW
So starting OL Johanning, out.. Maybe Mercer he is back.
Achina at ILB out for year - last years starter then replaced by Jalen Miller I think.
ILB McCormick out how long.. vertigo?

IFFY to PROBABLE
Norman is still iffy on OL.
Hopefully Toomey and Hughes and …. I’ll be looking for Wayne Anderson too

Trying to keep a list for me

If the OL starts playing strong.. the only concern is that is TWO ILB out - one for year who was a starter last year.. and the other starter who was v good in 2022 is 'indefinite'. So not just two LB.. it is two ILB

Sounds like USC is missing some OTs. It showed v Unc. Maybe we can get in the backfield.
Also the LB is out and he was all SEC as freshman and two deep as he was recovering but he is a good player. As FUBEAR noted the WRs kept hobbling back in so I expect to see them

I don’t want injuries to anyone. Just noting who might be missing for USC

Is Achina the one that CCH said had foot surgery and is out for the year? I coukdn’t understand who he was talking about. He said Norman was questionable but everyone else practiced on Monday.

Wow. Why do you want to attack our band? Show a little respect. They are just as good and talented than ever. I appreciate the band members and hope they make the trip down to Columbia. Go Paladins!

Yes, he said Achina had surgery and is out for the rest of the year.
Clay's statement was "we play in the game who can practice, and it's too early to tell about Fred."

All 9 sacks by UNC.

Some of the pressure was created by scheme and confusion - USC has offensive linemen sliding the wrong way leaving free rushers. A lot of it is just getting getting whipped up front. The OTs were frequently shoved right back into the QB.

Furman plays a high pressure style of defense. They'll bring guys from everywhere. With Rattler, I think the key for us is we've got to get him down. UNC did a great job of tackling when they reached him in the backfield. Can't let him escape.

I had not remembered this until a friend mentioned it to me, but Furman has a pretty close connection with UNC's defensive staff. So maybe they'll share some notes.

For example, Furman has nearly twice as many Southern Conference football championships as the next best SoCon member, and over three times as many as The Citadel....which is why they must carry our luggage
