we hung in there but ran out of gas....tightened up towards the end and gave it up....sad ending....we need to be better....refs called so many fouls that hurt us...frustrating
UNCG SATURDAY 4PM SELLOUT?
This is the most veteran team we have had in decades. Yet, we keep blowing large leads down the stretch. The bad passes and bonehead fouls are ridiculous. This team has talent, but for some reason the coaches haven’t been able to maximize it. Time to get it together!

We have no purpose on offense. Just a lot of dribbling and maybe we get an open look off of a defensive breakdown. If you’re going to dribble out the shot clock, you better have guys that can finish late in the clock — we don’t. Rebounding is about effort and desire. UNCG takes a 3 with about 30 seconds in regulation and 3 Paladins give up an offensive rebound to the only UNCG player that could get it.
I will be negative tonight and agree with you. We lost our composure as UNCG stayed cool the entire game. That was about as disappointing a loss as I can remember at Timmons. Full house, 13 point lead with 8 minutes to go, and we let the refs get in our heads. Plus, we just couldn't get any good shots off in the last 5 minutes. Go Paladins. Beat Chatty.
Adding, why in the world did Slawson foul that guy after the took the 2 point lead? No excuse for that foul.

Played very well the first 12+ minutes of the second half, Timmons was rockin’. Then played really, really bad the last 8. Let UNCG just take the game with little resistance. For a lack of a better word we just played “stupid” the last 8 minutes. Let them erase the lead at the free throw line. Why were we fouling in the backcourt with the lead? Hard to get going in OT when you know the game should have n the W column. 3 free throws is all we had in OT.

Socon is gonna be wide open this year. No clear fav. Chatty is killing Sammy at Sammy. wouldnt be surprised if reg season champ had 3-5 L. after today, looks like no team will be undefeated

With 7:55 in second half we were up by 13 and had outscored them in the second half 31-6 (staggering). I thought it was our best half of the year. Then we went 6 minutes without a FG. You cannot do that.
Last year against UTC in SC finals we were up 28-16 with 19:24 left in game and went 6 minutes without scoring (29-29). In fact in 10 minutes we scored only 4 points. That was ultimately why we lost the game-not the long 3 pointer in OT.
Like Western we did not finish. Inconsistency reared its ugly head. 16 more FT’s by UNCG did not help.
Bothwell was right where we wanted at end of regulation driving on the left side of basket.
This game shows us that regardless of the rest of the regular season UNCG will be a very formidable opponent in Asheville.
Have to learn from this and continue to get better as CBR said. But losing a home game with a 13 point lead with 7:55 left is tough. Up to that point I think it was maybe our best game of the season.
No baskets in OT and 3 points in OT won’t win many games. So that is 6 minutes in regulation and 5 minutes in OT crunch time with no field goals.
I think there is a pattern. Need to not have these long droughts.
