First game just finished.

The Citadel won 78-70 over VMI. VMI lead most of the first half by as much as 11 before the Citadel rallied to lead by 2 at the half. Then the Citadel rushed out to a lead of as much as 18 before VMI came back late in the game to cut it to a 3 point lead. After building the big lead the Citadel went out of character and seemed to be slowing it down a little. Almost backfired on them.

Having to play the late game, which means having to wait all day on Day 1 and then having less rest than any other team on Day 2, doesn't seem like much of a reward for finishing the regular season with the 3rd seed. The #4 - #5 game should be at 8:30 and everyone else moved up a slot.

I'm glad Chat won. They are more athletic than Samford and as ETSU's biggest conference rival they're likely to give the Bucs more of a fight. Samford is probably secretly relieved their nightmare season is over.

In other news, I can no longer go to the Monday night game and have a reserve seat ticket for sale. If anyone is interested PM me.

ETSU won it as a #3 seed last year, so no excuses.

UTC won by a final margin of 10, but the game was actually closer most of the way. Samford lead most of the first half and trailed most of the second half but the margin was only 2 with two minutes left.

Makinde London had a huge game for UTC - 25 points and 14 rebounds. He also had 4 assists, 3 steals, 2 blocked shots and only 1 turnover. Chattanooga had two players with 18 and another with 14 points. If London can duplicate that effort he would be a major problem for anyone in the SoCon and he will have to play another one like that for the Mocs to beat ETSU. Depth is the ETSU advantage. The Mocs only played seven players last night and five played over 30 minutes. Chatman returned to action for UTC after missing games with an injury and was one of the 18 point scorers.

I wonder how much of UTC's "looking good" was a function of Samford's poor D. The Mocs go from playing the weakest defensive team in the conference to one of the best. I expect ETSU to regain some of it's mid season form and win by double digits.

Not trying to make excuses, but why is being put at a disadvantage a reward?

Having just watched UNCG, I am more convinced we can take them if given the opportunity.

Citadel had a chance and blew it. Couldn’t hit the threes down the stretch

Good crowd here for Woffy and Mercer.

Looks like it will be Wofford moving on to face UNCG.

Mercer hit a hot streak the last few weeks, but didn’t have it today.

Mercer turned it over 18 times (vs Woffy 5) and shot 6-23 from 3. Not gonna win many games like that....
