I feel a military upset coming on against Chatt or Samford. Crazy? Maybe so.

I think Chattanooga and Mercer will beat Samford.
Now you're talking crazy talk. Turn over the apple cart.

After watching Sammy in person, I was just not that impressed. Thought the FU loss had more to do with FU than SU, Remember Tyler Huff did not play in that game.

Sammy scored at will against ETSU. Their offense seemed almost unstoppable.

At this point I honestly am not sure who is the best among the top 4 teams in conference.

Time will tell.

Did anyone figure out the tie break situation for the AQ? Total points allowed across all games vs just SoCon vs just amongst the tied teams games?

My rough math:
Chatty - 139 total points allowed 74 SoCon points allowed
FU - 175 total points allowed 121 SoCon points allowed
Sammy - 179 total points allowed 101 SoCon points allowed
M - 173 total points allowed 101 SoCon points allowed

I forget, but go back and look at 2018. The rule was applied that season.

I'm pretty sure that Furman, ETSU, and Wofford ended tied at 6-2. All three were 1-1 against the other two. All three had lost to the next ranked team (Samford) and beaten everyone else.

The points allowed math came into play. I just forget how it was applied.

Looks like ALL CONF GAMES…

“The tiebreaker centered on which of the three teams allowed the fewest points in conference games.”

SCORING DEFENSE G TD FG XPT 2XP DXP Saf Points Avg/G
1. Chattanooga 5 9 4 8 0 0 0 74 14.8
2. Mercer 6 11 8 11 0 0 0 101 16.8
3. Furman 6 15 6 13 0 0 0 121 20.2
4. Samford 5 11 8 11 0 0 0 101 20.2

…and, just for fun, adding the Avg point scored by the remaining opponents yields…

Chattanooga = 74+13.8+38.0+23.4 = 149.2
Mercer = 101+31.2+38.0 = 170.2
Furman = 121+39.8+20.0 = 180.8
Samford = 101+31.4+39.8 = 172.2

…so a tie-breaker without Chatt could be fun, but, statistically, the Mocs look like they would win the AQ in a 3 way tie-breaker or maybe a 4 way…if that’s possible, and if it’s possible for a 4 way to get to the Points Allowed step

You guys are math wizzies. So I guess for reputation purposes we want chatty winning but giving up some points in high scoring games. Still need a Sammy loss and FU winning out. If we were AQ we would have better chance at a first round bye. Sometimes that’s good. Sometimes not good to break the rhythm.
