Some of you probably fear this. Lol. I see both good and room
For improvement …. Win or lose

Good-
Finally able to run with Roberto etc SOME.

JW did pretty well. A few off the mark but pretty good

OL did well. Glad to see Jumper back

Miller is a stud

Jet sweeps were pretty productive. . Nice coaching there

O scored 27. That’s better

Improvement needed
- don’t let one call deflate you. Good teams don’t let that happen. We did. Clearly we changed right after one call. Have to let it go and move on

- QUIT TURNING THE BALL OVER. GOOD GRIEF. Clearly that’s huge. I said last week if we did that vs Sammy we would lose. Nothing earth shattering but then football is simple at times. BALL SECURITY. One was on the OL where JW never saw it coming

- D ? Or lack of D. Sammy peeps on AGS etc said we can score 30 and can you stay with us. Our D wasn’t up to the task of holding them under 30. Yes, one short field but 30 points is a forgiving standard.

- WTH with the similar run plays for 3 TDs. Cmon. We Got our coached on that. Inside draw (?) or some such for three TDs.

- people asked two questions about Sammy.
1 Can they really run this year? YES.
- 2 is their D better? Not great but a little better possibly. We did move the ball better vs them than CSU and ETSU in general but it was better than prior
Sammy iterations of D some of Sammy D iterations were really bad. They seem to be ‘ok’ now

- speaking of that it’s two weeks in a row where the other team has huge explosion plays and we don’t. And before anyone gets defensive on that CCH said the same thing (pre game show today) about CSU. said we have to be better at not allowing those huge plays … and there they were again on huge runs…. Where are our 60 yd TD breakaways??

- we just can’t seem to bust big runs this year

Unfortunately some bum luck - Most of our fumbles went right to Sammy players. Most of theirs (6 recvr fumble went right back to him in q4). But great teams overcome that. No ref or one bad play allows 34 points !!!

As an aside our best win is ETSU. they are now 0-3 in conference. Boo.

——————
This stinks - We really blew a big chance today. Sammy is highly rated bc they beat an overrated KSU team. We had the chance to take advantage of that by beating Sammy. Man.

Need to go all wins and one loss from here out to get 8-3 and chance at playoffs. Again, it is SOO HARD to win em all as today showed. Too much variance. So let’s run a bunch of Ws and get to Chatt and Mercer with 7 wins. We can. Citadel wcu etc. Let’s get on a roll !!

GF I agree with some of your points. My 2 cents:
We do not have anything close to a good running game. We got 90 yds today from our running backs. We rarely and I mean rarely break any long runs. Today we averaged 3.4 ypc. Not winning football.
We still do not have a downfield passing game, Most of the yards we do get are YAC.
Jace played winning football today but his limitations are very noticeable.
The defense let down the middle part of the game, after the debacle and it cost us. Coaching?
The OL does pretty well pass blocking. Not so good run blocking, How many time have we failed on 3rd and short?
Thought this defense was supposed to be really good. Why so many missed tackles? We were missing Jackson, Morris and Willkins today on D.
Giving up the way too many big plays. Receivers catching balls with no FU player in the same zip code.
We do not have explosion play capabilities. If we do have one it usually comes from a broken play.
We missed a golden opportunity today. Playing a very beatable highly ranked team.
Very disappointed we punted twice, once at the 11 minute mark and once at the 8 minute mark down 2 scores on 4th and short at about their 40. We netted about 25 yds on each punt.

Very good points AP. unfortunately. Lol

I bold the ones I particularly agree with.

1). I pointed out how CSU was breaking a couple long plays last week - SPEED BABY - and I caught a little heat - not much …. just of the “no worries that’s gonna happen GF” variety. Well IT AINT HAPPENING FOR US !, If big plays are going to happen from time to time… where are ours ??! Heck. Take away just two of the three Sammy big runs and we might win. CSU (really?) and now Sammy have 2 and three huge plays vs our D. That’s FIVE 30/40+ yard plays by our opponents in last 2 games and we basically have none. Four of those are runs. Three today and one by CSU. And one long pass by CSU

And yes I while I’ll take. A blown coverage TD for us :D I really mean the RB for us is freak fast or our WR leaves you in the dust type. Just isn’t happening.

Yep on OL RB. JW had 38 yards rushing. The RBs had 90 total on 24 attempts
Roberto 16 attempts. 53 yds
Abrams 6 attempts At. 33 yds
Thomas. 2 attempts. 4 yards.
You are spot on. Show me we got 90 yards from RBs and I’ll show you a 80% chance we lost. All week I said - esp w Sammy - the games we have killed that were awesome like in Bama a few yrs back we ran for over 200+. I do think their D is improved a little? But our running game w RBs is just not working right now. We couldn’t run on CSU until 2d half. RUN THE BALL AND SMASH People. We just seem too finesse right now. Not a great run push from OL

2). Love JW. great backup qb but needs a little more experience. That’s all. As any young guy he misses some of the vision that Huff has. Oh man was that recvr open (11? KD) and JW went to the covered guy as we tried a deep shot and one was covered , One WIDE OPEN. I was already thinking TD and then went to why did we throw to the covered guy

3. Man oh man. How bad ,can you let ONE CALL affect you. Man up and move on. One call didn’t give Sammy THIRTY FOUR pts !!

4. Agree. Pass blocking is better than man on man run blocking. My past posts have been saying where is the 200-250 yd FU run game. ?? And I mean with a good bit from RBs. Like 190 from RBs and 60 from QB. great that Huff is leading rusher at times but we need more from OL RB

5/. See number 1. Same. We just don’t have that and it’s hard to win without one or two big plays. No chance at penalties on dink and dunk AND pumps up the momentum.

Yes, we blew a HUUUUGE opportunity to get ranked number 20/21 today. Could t defend our house. While I watch Clemson improve and UGA trail all day and then win. Winners find ways to win. We have work to do. Thankfully the bellhops offer up very little in offense as I understand it

GF. Beat Citadel .

Yes to both of you.

When you're behind in the 4th Quarter and faced with a manageable 4th and 3 or 4th and 4 in decent field position, why not go for it? What do you have to lose? At some point you have to gamble. "Fortune Favors The Bold".

When you're behind by a TD with 2:00 left, an on-side kick is in certainly worth the risk. We did get the ball back with a minute left and no time-outs, but it did us no good because we do not have a quick-strike offense. Our longest play from scrimage was 27 yards. Sam had scoring plays of 44 & 36 yards.

Enough of my rant. Go 'Dins! Beat snot out of them other Bulldogs!

Thanks man. Y, lot of pain from yesterday. Some on coaches. Esp on D vs run. Wouldn’t be having to do all that at end if we could keep … Samford from gashing us w runs.

Never thought I would say that phrase “if we could keep Sammy from gashing us w runs “. That’s like having Woff or Cit light us up w passing. Lol
