A few other big games.

ETSU and Mercer are locked in a tight one in Macon. 14-12 in the 3rd. If Mercer can pull off a win there, that'd be huge for Furman as it would give ETSU a second SoCon loss.

Samford is also beating Wofford. That will also give Wofford a second SoCon loss.

ETSU keeps on winning. They pulled another one out at Mercer. Samford pulling away from Wofford. Setting up a showdown of ETSU vs Samford in two weeks.

Question: How would a four-way tie for first be broken? If Wofford and Furman win out, Samford wins in Charleston next week, and Samford beats ETSU, that's exactly what we have. We'll get numbers on the field house, but will probably get left out of the playoffs due to two losses head-to-head with the other three. Samford will take the autobid with a 3-0 record against everyone else. Am I correct?

Yes. Samford needs to win out and they are the autobid.

The playoff scenario nationally is wacko. There is an army of 5-4 type of teams (essentially, right were Furman is). Furman just needs to keep winning and let chips fall.

ETSU is having a magical season. Sometimes everything just goes your way. Their 6 conference wins are by a total of 16 points. They have four 3 point wins and two 2 point wins. It's all our fault by starting this mess with the meltdown in JC.

i think midland paladin is right.for us to get a share of the title we need to beat vmi and mercer.and have Samford beats etsu.if Wofford makes it a 4 way tie our record vrs the other 3 is 1-2.and if Wofford does not make it and it is a three way tie, then we would be 0-2 vrs the teams with whom we are tied.neither way do we get the conference automatic bid.
so let's go win the next two, hope Samford beats etsu and get a share.the only good thing about missing the playoffs this is not a team that likely would win a national title.but if we get decent qb play next year,i think we'll be back in.

I guess the best scenario for us would be if citadel upsets Samford, and Samford beats etsu.and Wofford wins out.that way Samford with 3 losses does not tie and it is 3 way tie etsu, furman and Wofford.each would have a 1-1 record vrs the other 2.

Agree with Salty - let’s hope Samford beats ETSU and let’s win out - then let the chips fall where they may. Then we are 2018 SoCon Champs and get numbers on the field house - playoffs or not.

Wofford loses to Western and Citade upsets Sammy and Sammy beats ETSU and we would still lose automatic bid to ETSU but maybe miraculously get in playoffs with 4 straight wins and co-championship.

More likely scenario is we win out and Sammy beats ETSU and we are co-champions.

I think not playing Colgate costs us two wins-the Colgate game and the ETSU meltdown.

Not getting ahead of ourselves, but if we win out, here's a thought for a first round playoff game: Furman vs. Colgate.

Unfortunately we’d be traveling to Hamilton, NY. Not to worry, I know the way.

If we have to go on the road anyway, there would be some small amount of satisfaction I would gain by seeing Furman travel back to New York and beat Colgate again.

But, it’s a three day trip.
