Latest ESPN bracketology (9/6/22):

Funny he has both Furman and Toledo in the same bracket, both have 2 of the longest droughts to the tourney.
Yes, last time for both = 1980 (they lost 94-91 against FSU & and we lost 80-69 against Tennessee).
Since then, Toledo has been in 9 NIT’s, winning 5 of 17 NIT games. Their NIT seasons were 81, 89, 01, 04, 07, 14, 19, 21, 22. (Ours: 91, 19.)
Their one NCAA win was in 1979, 74-72 over Iowa. Toledo has been in NCAA tourney 4 times: 54, 67, 79, 80. (Furman, 6 times: 71, 73, 74, 75, 78, 80, Yes, all in one decade.)
This is their coach’s 13th year at Toledo.
He’s had winning records all the years except year 1 (4-28, 1-15).
His best season there so far was 2021-22, 26-8 (17-3).
I very much doubt our ability to keep our present coach for 13 seasons, or even for 7 seasons. We need to make the NCAA tourney this year while we still have our present coach. It could be another 42 year span before we do make it again to the NCAA tourney, whether we make it or do not make it this year. How many of us will be around through the end of the 2064-65 season? (42 seasons after this season)
And we need to make the NCAA tourney more than Toledo needs to, because they at least have had the consolation of getting NIT bids so many more years than we have (9 for them, 2 for us).

57 Days To Go!
Y’know…FUBeAR just looked at the Basketball schedule. It was on Saturday actually. Noticed we play East Tennessee State in Johnson City, exactly 2 months after this NGU game, on 1/7/23. BTW, ETSU was SoCon Champions in Football last year. Anyway, this 1/7/23 game could be a critical conference matchup for our Hoops Dins. It’s an early season Conference matchup in January and we want to get the quest for the SoCon Championship off on the right foot. GO DINS!!

That's OK too.
But FUBeAR does make a good point, and he makes it in an interesting creative way.

New walk-on added, junior Blake Harris
https://furmanpaladins.com/sports/mens- ... arris/5288

I figured we would add one since Rhett Lister is a senior, always good to have at least one walk-on carryover each season to keep culture flowing

He must have come from the student body tryouts CBR had recently.
