Those that make a living by enabling addicted degenerates to separate themselves from their assets have installed Sanford as a 7 point favorite on Saturday...

Sanford at Furman - Saturday, October 20, 2018 2:00 PM
Sanford -7 Over 64

I know it ain’t how it works, so don’t @ me...but I like to think that means they are projecting the score ‘in the neighborhood’ of...

Sanford 35
Furman 28

What y’all think about that?
I think I want to know what sportsbook that is from, because it's a really unusual spread - Massey has Furman as a 3-point favorite.

I think the over is the play....and anytime FU is getting a TD at home I'm tempted to take the Dins.

You might want to jump on it quickly then, Paul. Their FCS lines started jumping around fairly wildly in the 2nd week of this season. Haven’t seen them move much in the past. Maybe more financial interest in these games now with the improving economy is bringing in bigger $’s & bigger players, who are moving the lines. I know there’s at least 1 Wofford fan with a billion $ more discretionary dollars burning a hole in his vaults.

I expect this line will move down & may even swing the other way.

I watched the FSU game and Samford played them really well and never gave up. They had a shot at a W.

The problem is that FCS games typically have extremely low caps. Back when I bet on FCS games when I was at Furman, the 5Dimes limit was $100 a game. In any given week, there would be 1 or 2 easy wins, a decent set of solid picks, and then some that weren't worth it. I made a couple thousand a year, which was nice for some spending money but not doable as a grown adult with a job, kid, etc.

It’s $100 per bet. Which means you can play multiple bets but you move the line.

Samford is a good team. FSU isn’t quite as good as many people expected they’d be.

I do think it is important to highlight that FSU/Samford played on a Saturday after FSU had played on a Monday. Samford had played the previous Thursday. FSU had 4 days between games while Samford had 9.

Been scouting them a little. Didn't realize Samford didn't have All America Gooden for the first half vs Mercer. That's big. a small asterisk - but an asterisk nonetheless.

He is a game changer. Ain't the pre-season D player of the conference for nothing

We need to ball-control O and keep their O off the field

Mr. Gooden is going to have to go some if he is going to be the post-season SoCon DPOY...

7 games...
Solo Tackles: 18 | 2.57/game
Assists: 11 | 1.57/game
Total Tackles: 29 | 4.14/game
TFL’s: 5 | 0.71/game
TFL Yds: 16 | 2.28 yds/game
Sacks: 1.5 | 0.21/game
Sack Yds: 11 | 1.57 yds/game
PBU’s: 3 | 0.43/game
QB Hurries: 8 | 1.14/game
Fumble Recoveries: 1 | 0.14/game
Fumble Recovery Yds: 0 | 0.00/game

Pretty much...4 tackles, 1 TFL, 1 QBH per game ... not bad, but not game changing, and certainly not DPOY numbers.

Hopefully, he’ll wait another week before he starts ‘going some.’

Ahmad Gooden hasn't been quite as dominant this season as last. My guess is part of that is because Samford's defense isn't as good.

Last year was the best Bulldog defense in ages. I suspect that they are not as deep this year (they graduated a lot off their defense) and teams are able to scheme around Gooden. Last year he was in more 1 v 1 matchups because an offense had to contend with the rest of the defense.

I expect a large part of Furman's offensive game plan is to identify #99 and find a way to double team him, check him with a back or TE, or just go the other direction.

Definitely think that home field advantage plays in our favor as they are winless on the road so far this year.
We too are winless on the road so far this year. Glad we're at Home. Go 'Dins!

Weather could affect this game. Hope not need to beat these dogs straight up no excuses. The boys are back in town! Hide the women and children.

Samford. A little hurt - never seen this ... After two injuries at FS they have a guy listedas Backing up himself "Former all state Koi Freeman was definitely our starter. Pettway, a 5th year Sr. had experience in playing that position, but was hurt in the opening game, and hasn't returned. Since FSU I believe we have had 3 different starters at FS. I just looked at game notes, and the player who I think is a former walk-on is listed as backing up himself at FS. I also see where we will start a true Fr. at SS. Definitely an injury depleted secondary, but next man up."

He's right. They have a FS listed as backing up himself if you page down the two deep. Also possibly their center number 77 Lee and LB nbr 24 Atkinson may be out. So a few injuries on defense. Mainly in secondary.

Still, they out gained FSU by 100 yards. I don't care how bad FSU was is. That's a bunch of 5 star athletes. Samford put up over 500 yards on FSU. FSU gained 460 or so

Unless they've changed, Samford tends to produce one depth chart at the beginning of the season and never changes it publicly.

So, if you see a depth chart they publish, it's usually their preseason depth chart.

They’ve been updating it this year. Still full of errors. I’m sure the Player ‘backing up himself’ is because of a failure to update the new backup’s name in the file. They have over 120 on their roster. I’m sure they have a 5th or 6th Team Player that they could have dropped in there.

They also have the following listed as the HT/WT for 1 of their OLmen...

(6-6, 3-7, Jr.)

They have definitely been bitten by the injury bug in their Secondary & they have some talent issues back there also. Glass #31 is an excellent CB & that Former walk-on Safety, Barton #19, has been doing much better than the others they have had back there. They had a CB on the 2 deep in the past (who is no longer on there), who could not make a play without ridiculously interfering, including against Shorter. (Maybe he should play for Yale...but that’s another story.) I suspect we are going to test them a good bit back there. FUBeAR would find #31 & go elsewhere with the ball though. They are pretty good up front. NG Roberts #97 has been very strong & we know Gooden can play. The other 2 DLmen aren’t bad either. 1 of their LB’s is a strong Player - #34 Harris & the LB they have playing now due to injury, Floyd #26, has been productive. Overall, on D, they are relatively inexperienced, if not, necessarily, “young.” They have quite a few upperclassmen on the 2 deep that have not played much meaningful football until this season...but neither had FU’s QB...and we see how that’s working out...so...gonna be a good one Sat.
