I wish FUBeAR would explain clearly the reason for Disclaimer 1. I do not understand.

That's a good picture.
But no, not clearly enough of your explanation of the reason for Disclaimer 1.
It does not tell why continuing to support football in the SoCon is the best thing to do rather than considering transitioning to the Pioneer Football League.
It does tell what we did in the past, but not in the future.
Relatively few people know how many times, and when, Furman has won the SoCon in football. The number of people who know and who care is a decreasing number. And I am talking about just people in Greenville and in SC, and it is much less people beyond that.
If we would win another SoCon football championship by 2026 (Furman's 200 year anniversary of existence) then staying in the SoCon until then might possibly be reasonable. I do not see enough signs of our level of competitiveness moving in that direction.
Maybe it (the history, the past achievements) is a recruiting tool, but I am not convinced that is a good enough reason; and it becomes decreasingly less of a recruiting tool as years go by and as those championships are farther and farther into the past.
If we would go through the next 6 seasons (21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 26) without another SoCon championship, we would wish that we had at least begun serious study and serious consideration by 2021.
2026 would be 8 years after our last SoCon championship and would be 9 years after our last FCS playoff win (that being a 1-point win followed the next week by another sad loss to "mighty" Wofford).

I read what you wrote -- probably five times -- and I still have no idea what you are talking about.

As Football Coaches are fond of saying, Can’t Coach speed. Cain’t Coach ig’nance neither.

A picture is worth 1000 words, generally, and worth well more than the 10,000 words you’ve gurgitated about this topic.

Next time you are in Paladin Stadium, go talk to that wall about it. FUBeAR ain’t studyin’ it no mo’

Insult perceived.
Counting down the days:
Maybe **2036** days, or fewer, until we get our next SoCon FB championship year posted on that wall on 11/21/2026.
Something to work towards.
Patience.
2927 total days from November 2018 to November 2026.
(**2036** to go, as of 4/26/2021.)
If we can wait 42 years in men’s basketball, 8 years in football is not long.
Do what you can to get us to that goal.
(Or 2027? ... since we waited 9 years each before 1999 and 2013 championships?
Picked 2026, since that is the 200 year anniversary of Furman.)

JMU is better than anyone in SoCon. Starting to lean on VMI already.

I hope Davidson is competitive. If so theN there is no reason we can’t be !!

Different game if Udinski is in there. FR QB will be good Player, but he is helping the Dukes more than he is the Keydets today.

Keydets would have been up 14-7 early, with Udinski; instead of down 7-3. Changes everything.

That said, JMU has done a better job than any SoCon of picking up VMI’s man coverage blitzes & getting the ball away. Their OL & RB’s are very good.

VMI transfer WR, Thornton, walked-on @ JMU & caught TD against the Keydets. That kinda sux for VMI. I’m sure he was thrilled though.

Really impressed with the VMI freshman QB. To me he looks better than Udinski. Very athletic and can run unlike Udinski. If he stays VMI will be tough next year along with their great receiver who so far today has 10 catches and a TD. JMU up 28-17. JSU now up 49-7 over DC.

The Lexington Marsupials gave JMU all they wanted in a first round game.

VMI made the SoCon proud today with their back-up QB. Should have won that game.

Not even close to as good as Udinski though.

VMI may be the new top dog and team to beat in the SoCon. They list 6 seniors, 11 juniors and 73 freshmen and sophomores. .
