Yep tonight’s SoCon opener has been postponed(Mercer/VMI).
Exactly. No sure thing that we play Alabama or any game. We are LUCKY to have played all of our games. Most teams have lost at least one game. Playing every game helps teams develop and learn so we have been fortunate there

coming up on 900 games cancelled . NINE HUNDRED
Well technically, we did not play all our games because the Richmond game was cancelled. We were fortunate enough to reschedule a game and that will be key in having the 3, 4, or 5, more opportunities to play in the nonconference to get the depth rolling like CBR wants.

GF where are you getting your numbers? I thought that seemed awfully high so I went back thru the ESPN schedule and from 11-25 thru 12-9 there have been 145 cancellations/postponement not 8-900. Think about it. If it were 900 every team in the country would have to have had 3 of these. That would also be an average of 60 per day. Not even close.

National rankings mean nothing for us. Out of conference games mean nothing for us. Only way we are going to the NCAA tournament , which I assume is our ultimate goal, is to win the SoCon tourney. 3 or 4 games in Asheville are really the only ones that matter.

They do unless you have no interest in the NIT are any interest in national prestige/publicity. No interest in having a good team with respect. No one said we were going to get an at large and everyone knows we have to win the tourney. To me I prefer to enjoy the journey and worry about the destination later and lord knows that destination has not been good to us for 40 years. Enjoy the moment.

They said 850 on the Furman broadcast last night... I don't know. Just what they said. Maybe I misheard. Certainly possible I misheard. If so, I apologize.

True - beating CInci or Bama is good PR. Yes, my biggest desire for our team is the NCAA tourney.. By far! However, they may have a 16-team tourney this year and the SoCon champ may not be invited. ESPN has been running templates of the 64/68 .. 32.. and 16 team possibilities. Anything is possible this year. They said if they limit it to 16 teams the one-bid league winners will get paid but not invited.

Beating Cinci or Bama still has value.

Wofford gets PR for beating UNC .. AND their run in NCAA. Kids notice. Guy in our office is UNC fan and he hates Wofford :D

OK, I’ll back up a little. If we can be top 30 or so, yes that matters. I’m now afraid that ain’t happening. We blew it. But whether you’re 63 or 92 just doesn’t seem like it’s worth worrying about. I think the rankings are pretty bogus at that level. Just win the the SoCon for the first time in forever. Then worry about the other stuff.

Obviously we all know it is very hard for a team like us to get an at large bid but it is certainly not out of the question. 2 years ago we were probably in without the samford loss or another quality win vs wofford or LSU. If Wofford and ETSU didn’t win the tournament the last two tears they certainly would have both made it anyway so don’t act like it’s out of the question for furman to have a season like that. Another reason that these games are crucial is if we do win the conference tournament. Our non conference games influence what seed we will get and the difference between being a 10 and a 14 is huge. I don’t know about anyone else on here but I think by the time we’re playing in the conference tourney this team will be elite and much better than anyone in our conference. I absolutely think we could make a run in the dance but having a solid seed will make it a whole lot easier.

And then you will attempt to attain Motard status. Kind of like Donkey Kong. But not quite the same.
