On the 1988 FU roster, John Bagwell as a Sr. TB was listed @ 5-10 206 https://tigerprints.clemson.edu/cgi/vi ... ball_prgms p. 63

Current starting TB is listed as...

22 Devin Wynn TB 6-0 208 Sr.

Pretty sure Mr. Wynn will not be sporting those bad-a$$ forearm J-pads though

Consider too the modernization of equipment. Football equipment of the 70s-90s was more bulky and players often sported big neck rolls and collars. That could give the appearance of being a bigger player than you were because of the thickness of the padding.

Modern equipment is lighter, smaller, and allows for more movement.

Jackal, agree- - those shoulder pads are huge in that picture.

Just an example. Julio Jones is a monster, and those pad have a very low profile.

Compare that to Dieon Sanders from the mid 90s.

The pads of that era add a lot of bulk.

About Us

GoPaladins.com is the latest iteration of The Unofficial Furman Football Page. Launched in August of 1996, The UFFP welcomes fans of all FCS football teams - and fans of the more inferior sports, too - for discussion, cameraderie, and even the occasional smack talk.

For example, Furman has nearly twice as many Southern Conference football championships as the next best SoCon member, and over three times as many as The Citadel....which is why they must carry our luggage

GoPaladins.com is not affiliated with Furman University or its athletics programs.
