I’m back. Going to simply ignore the negative toward Furman posts. My understanding is all of the early season tournaments, including this one and the one in Charleston, are being moved to the bubble in Orlando. No fans allowed. https://www.postandcourier.com/sports/c ... ca575.html

Report: Orlando to Host Eight College Basketball Tournaments https://www.si.com/college/2020/09/15/o ... ns-classic

https://collegehoopstoday.com/index.php ... ll-events/

There is also an article in today’s Sun News about the tourney being moved to Orlando.

Very poor reporting they can’t even get the participants right. Don’t understand moving all these tournaments around. The Maui moving to Asheville where their DA governor still has that state lock downed so no fans. The Battle For Atlantis is moving to South Dakota. I understand Duke is opting out of that tourney and trying to arrange their own. You know Duke they don’t like playing ooc road games or even neutral site games.

Since Alabama is playing in the Maui Invitational in Asheville(LOL) and there is a contract with Alabama already why couldn’t they stop at the Well before or after and play FU? Prolly makes too much sense in these crazy times but a nice thought.

Don’t be surprised if college basketball basically adopts the NBA model of basketball in a bubble.

North Carolina is not in lock down. Almost all of our businesses are open or at least partially open. The governor does ask everyone to wear a mask when in public and to avoid large groups . Covid 19 death in NC 3,315, SC 3,212 ( half the population of NC), GA 6,455 ( similar population). NC is doing just fine.

This is being moved to a “bubble” situation in Orlando. It’s still on! New start date
Excellent!

One day a week school, no high school football, no bars open, no fans at pro or college games, yes I would say they are pretty much in lockdown.

So would it be safe to assume that our season will begin with this tourney in Orlando? It seems like they are setting it up to take place the first week of the hoops season

Nebraska has opted out

So the 7 schools remaining are:
FU
Pitt
Dayton
Missouri
Utah St.
Loyola Chicago
UNCC

Guess they will try and add one more

Remember ESPN is moving 8 tourneys to their complex in Orlando to be played over 2 weeks. The MB could be first, could be last, who knows. Could be the weekend of Thanksgiving or the second week in December. ESPN needs to let teams know the dates so they can schedule accordingly since the non-conference has already been shortened by 2+ weeks.

Note to a CharlieFU- you should change the title to “not cancelled”, or moved. :)
