No commitment from Moss today, but Pegues has tweeted that he will make his commitment tomorrow at noon.
Belmont is most likely out of the running since they have used all open 2021 schollies. Pegues has been very vocal on Twitter about allowing students to play fall sports so that plays well for UTC, and it's closer to home. I could not stomach Wofford winning another recruitment battle.

The kid's appreciation video has me crying. I've never seen anything like that. He's our kind of player..

Wow! He looks like a potentially great player.

Did Vandy or UT not want this guy?

Best class ever?

2 F’s that are top 20 prospects in Ohio, a PG who is a top 10 prospect in Tenn, and a 6-11 kid from Jax that is very solid.
We once had a class with two members of the Parade Magazine top 40, a top 5 junior college recruit and two more players rated in the top 200. Probably not the best "ever."

Definitely one of the best of the past 20 or 30 years on paper.

Tennessee has a commitment from the #1 rated point guard in the country - 6'1" Kennedy Chandler, from Memphis. Vanderbilt also has a commitment from a top 100 rated point guard - 6'2" Payton Daniels, from the Atlanta area.
Also Pegues may be a late blooming talent. He was leading his team towards the state championship game before this past season was cut short by the pandemic scare. He missed the early spring AAU competitions too. He has excelled in the summer once they started playing again.

Pegues warrants a comparison with Devin Sibley. Both from Tennessee, both fairly skinny, both flashy, athletic, and multi-talented. Both under recruited.

Here are a few notes from HoopSeen website - LINK
One player that upped his level of play from the start of drills to the final horn was 2021 guard Jaylen Pegues. The paint was touched at will as Pegues would get downhill via high ball screens. While he sprinkled in open shots, his ability to attack the rim ferociously and set up his teammates was his main calling card. With tight handles and an ability to weave through traffic, Pegues has several qualities to lead a winning program.
Court 1 brought some afternoon fireworks as Jaylen Pegues squared off against the talented back court of Game Elite Big 5. Fresh off of a Furman offer, Pegues seemed determined to use the weekend as a chance to secure more options. A tight handle along with the ability to shift through multiple gears was what kept defenders at bay. His craftiness made scoring from different areas appear to be routine. Kudos to Furman and Belmont for getting in on Pegues before his offer sheet grows any longer. If this weekend's play is any indication then they will not be the only two.
A steal and a bucket, a deep three, a penetrating lay-up and a put back on the offensive glass, thats how Pegues makes his presence felt as he did Saturday to open up an afternoon extravaganza. Young man is the best on ball defender in our state, he craves the opposing top scorer and takes it personal if he gets one on him. Offensively he has grown to a complete player. He is the total package. His outside stroke is confident and his length allows him to penetrate and finish.

We have what looks like a fantastic core of players in the 2020 and 2021 class.

Of course we could have a couple of redshirts that might change this, but as of today we have 8 players that will move through the program and be SO/JR in '22-'23 season and JR/SR in the '23-'24 season.

PG/SG:
Joe Anderson, 6-0/170 (Fr)
Jaylen Pegues, 6-2/175 ('21 commit)

WIng (2/3):
Marcus Foster, 6-4/200 (RS-Fr)

Forward (3/4):
Garret Hein, 6-9/205 (Fr)
Alex Williams, 6-4/215 ('21 commit)
Tyrese Hughey 6-7/220 ('21 commit)

Post (4/5)
Jonny Lawrence 6-10/205 (RS-Fr)
James Lee Repass 6-10/250 ('21 commit)

Paul to your point I'm circling 21-22.

We'll have four seniors:
Gurely 6-8
Bothwell 6-3
Slawson 6-7
Pugh 6-0

I have faith in our coaches to have the next wave ready the sophomore/junior class:
Foster 6-4
Lawrence 6-10
Beeker 6-9
Kenney 6-1

The same goes for the incoming class of two:
Anderson 6-0
Hien 6-9

As I look at what Richey is building the 21-22 team starts to have a lot of length and depth.
Hard to believe Slawson will be the shortest player in the group at 6-7.
Slawson 6-7
Gurley 6-8
Beeker 6-9
Lawrence 6-10
Hien 6-9

Lastly, the 20-21 recruiting class brings in some grit:
Repass 6-10 250
Hughley 6-7 220
Williams 6-4 215

This doesn't guarantee success but I really like the physical footprint that Richey is building.
