“Sometimes people say, ‘Well, they’re playing Furman, it’s a game that Clemson should win or whatever. And I’m like, ‘Well you know what? Furman has beaten Clemson 10 times. 10. So it’s not like they beat them once and the skies parted. Double digit wins against Clemson,” Swinney said. “I don’t know when the last one was but I know they beat them 10 times, and I guarantee you those 10 times, Clemson was probably favored and was probably supposed to win the game. Supposed to don’t get it done. This is a game of performance, and you better show up every single week.”

Furman’s last win over Clemson came in 1936. The Tigers have won 30 consecutive meetings in the matchup.

“I’m sure that 1936 (Clemson) bunch was probably favored to win,” Swinney said.

I like Dabo and usually I appreciate his soundbites, but here is an example where he should have done his homework. Now I wasn't there, but according to my media guide, that 1936 Furman team was coming off of a win over South Carolina the week before (23-6) and finished that season as South Carolina Champions with wins over the Gamecocks, Wofford, the citadel, and ended up beating the tiggers 12-0. And I don't think it was an upset since the Paladins went into the game with victories in 3 of the previous 4 games with Clemson. ;)

Dabo is "all in" with coach speak but he is not in the league with ole Danny. Danny would cry all week about how the next team was unbeatable, shouldn't be on the same field with them etc. and that team could be 0-10. Danny was a pro.
I will give Dabo his due he is usually respectfull.

I mean I appreciate Dabo's comments, but instead of talking about the games in 1936, how about highlight a few players that are legitimately good on the Furman roster. Say "they've got this RB Moorehead who is super speedy" or "we really liked their secondary on tape. We know Trapp well, but they also have a great safety." Stuff like that. You're not blowing smoke up people's butts by saying you could lose, but you're acknowledging that there is talent. I believe we have a few players that could make the 3 deep at Clemson or at least contribute on special teams.

That sounds like it was handed to him by the SID before the presser.
