I just can't see SIU with 5 losses getting in over us - same for SEL…
If it comes down to us and SELa we are screwed. Remember the the committee chair is from the SLC. Towson was 5 spots behind us and they lost to a sub .500 team yesterday so that would be hard to understand. 2 hours and counting.

I don't get Albany either. Lost to Monmouth, Richmond, and Maine... and beat nobody any good. They are not even ranked and both Hero Sports guys have them in way above the bubble?????

If we don’t get in we will have to wrap our heads around no good losses does not help overcome no good wins. And a league that had virtually no good wins ... Georgia Tech and Austin Peay. That’s it I believe.

What is the Big South's biggest win? Do they have one? It would have looked a lot better if we could have scored once or twice from the one yard line at WC.

Oh I agree. Big South is garbage. The committee loves Kennesaw for whatever reason though. If it was anyone else they wouldn’t get a sniff.

If a 7-2 FCS record is not good enough to get in then the system is badly flawed. Not to mention the two close FBS losses. We should be IN with 100 % certainty. There is too much paranoia because of us getting screwed last year when we were 6-4.

I still say it’s hard to imagine the team ranked 15th in the most important poll not getting a bid, but....

FCS needs to go back to having no more than 16 teams in the field. There are way too many mediocre teams that get in now. Only teams that are really good deserve a chance for a NC.

NDSU and JMU are heads above the rest. I will be mildly surprised if they dont play for the championship.

Agree, really we are 14th because #13 FAMU is ineligible.

But then they tell you that Furman had a Q3 loss to Samford and that overrides a Q1 win over Villanova in basketball...so which way is it?

Believe the committee chair is from OVC (Jacksonville State), but your point still stands.

It is impossible to determine what criteria the selection committee uses In the outside chance that logic enters the consideration, Wofford’s convincing win over Citadel helps Furman. WC is seen as a hot team that is peaking at the right time so losing to them is not as bad as it first looked. And then there is Vegas. FU would likely be favored over more than half the teams being considered.

About Us

GoPaladins.com is the latest iteration of The Unofficial Furman Football Page. Launched in August of 1996, The UFFP welcomes fans of all FCS football teams - and fans of the more inferior sports, too - for discussion, cameraderie, and even the occasional smack talk.

For example, Furman has nearly twice as many Southern Conference football championships as the next best SoCon member, and over three times as many as The Citadel....which is why they must carry our luggage

GoPaladins.com is not affiliated with Furman University or its athletics programs.
