Appreciate the year.
Hope we make playoffs. We should
It’s just one game

That said, we haven’t won at Wofford since 2006. 2006!!! Now our best hope is 2021. 15 years. That’s embarrassing

*. I have said it before and I’ll say it again. CLEARLY our weakness is tough physical teams. Citadel loss. Woff. ETSU was a close win. Teams that like up and run at us w physicality are our struggle.
*Where was that second half D? 14 points for Woff in first. 14 in second.

It all comes down to OL and DL. sat w a former player and he was getting more pissed as game wore on at our LOS on both sides. Friend listened to our announcers and they admitted we got freakin crushed on OL and DL.

No way we were winning that game unless we step up w LOS - TWO fourth and goals and they stopped both. Haven’t seen that all year. They whipped us at LOS. All. Day. Long.
***One scary thought is they played without their TWO BEST DL. Mangum and Horton - both return next year. That’s a fact and scary considering the DL I saw in black and gold today

A lot of smart guys here and on AGS picked Woff as a paper tiger. Just because they hadn’t won a huge game doesn’t mean they aren’t great. It ONLY means they haven’t had a chance to prove it

We have a great D but it’s obvious w more DBs and Spurs we are better at pass D now (speed) than in years prior and our run D is a little less.

All that said we were 7-21 passing at one point late in game. ... tell me that I’ll tell you we are losing. Darn tootin COMPLETE SOME PASSES. As soon as we did that late in game ... we started being able to run. We have to go 15-25 or so passing (in real game not just last drive down 17) to compete w better teams

Two positives here. Part of it is just a matchup issue. We just don’t matchup w the toughest run teams well. Citadel. Woff. Our two losses.

We also have to remember they have a senior QB. we have not just a R-freshman but a guy in only his second start !! Sisson started for first time last week

Seems simple typing this from my couch but gotta think setting up some easy, high percentage passes early on would have gone a long way to get the O in a groove and open up run game. Last two times we’ve played in Gibbs Wofford has completely force us out of our run game. Can’t allow that. Fingers crossed for playoffs. Need the experience against those tough teams if we want to get better.

My thoughts:
1) QB situation is far from settled - Sisson struggled
2) We are not as good as many think we are
3) Even if we go to playoffs, we are likely one and done playing against a physical team
4) We have a lot of decent players coming back and a good recruiting class; next year should be better
5) FU Basketball

FUPaladin08. I Agree. Like I said I sat w a former player and he agreed too. Throw a few easy 3/4 yard completions to get QB in rhythm in first quarter. Because we can’t seem to beat the OL and DL of Woff straight up (2 fourth and one plays for a TD ... BOTH STUFFED). We have to get in space and complete a few passes vs these guys. Like last year we won 34-14 because we hit a ton of passes to RBs etc vs LBs. That’s hiw we beat these guys.

agree.i thought we had made progress since the 17 playoff game.we still could not stop the run.and we just could not establish a running game.wish we had run the option on the goal line.
I thought the worst play we called was with 39 seconds left in the half and us at our 20 and Wofford out of time outs we chose to throw it.incomplete.stopped the clock.forced us to punt.gave them 4 shots at us.fortunately no damage done.the call should have been to try to pick the 1st down with a run and if you did not pick it up simply let the clock run out which it would have before we had to run another play.

Thoughts
1) We got killed in the trenches. It was frankly embarrassing.
2) Cisson played like a freshman. He missed a lot of open receivers.
3) Wofford was definitely the better team today.
4) I am not a football expert. But I personally thought there were a number of holding penalties against Wofford that were not called.
5) The ball did not bounce our way today.
6) I saw no positives today.
7) We can certainly improve!

We did a lousy job of getting our skilled players in space. I think #21 had a total of 2 touches and gained 70 yards. I have to admit that I really don’t understand why Dejuan Bell can’t get some more playing time. He was very impressive in the spring and stood out in the pre season. Has been playing on kick offs the past few games and almost broke it twice today.Other than Gordon we don’t have a lot of speed on the outside.Bad loss but I still think we may be a tough out if we get in playoffs.

1. Agree. Need to have someone step up. Shiflett needs to get a look in spring if healthy.
2. Yes. Already knew that.
3. We are most likely one and done regardless. No VM I's in the playoffs.
4. A big maybe.
5. Yes but awfully early and SoCon already looks tough.

Seems both freshman QBs got the yips at unfortunate times this year. Granger was looking great before he hit the wall. Then Sisson came in strong for two games before today.

Bad timing but they will both learn and improve from the experience. We need to come back with confidence and hope we can make the playoffs. I think we will get stronger from this loss.

Somebody said we play Wofford early next year? Anybody know the date? Is it our first conference game?

I think that is to our advantage because they always seem to get better over time and next year they will have a new QB.

CCH said "we open" with them so I assume it will be the first game of the year.

My two cents.

1. Wofford was picked to win the league, and looked like a favorite. They played physical and fast. We did not.

2. I think it is worth noting that this Wofford team is a veteran has played in a lot of big games. They've won some playoff games. They're used to playing in tough scraps. What I saw from Furman, a bit, looks like a team with a bunch of younger inexperienced players. I know we have high expectations this year, but we are still a really young football team and, at times, play like it.

3. Offensively, plays were there, we just didn't execute. Seemed like we waited until the 3rd Q to start getting back to basics. Giving up the score to begin the half, failing to convert on the goalline, and getting only one possession in the quarter was a killer.

4. Both of our losses have looked exactly the same. The coaches need to figure out how to combat that.

5. I concur with a lot of you. We got beat on both sides of the line. Even when we had Wofford behind the sticks, we couldn't keep them there.
