To recap FBS future FBS games:
2018 Clemson
2019 VPI and Georgia State
2020 Tennessee
2021 NC State
2022 Clemson
2023 TBA
2024 Mississippi
2025 Clemson
So the only year we don't currently have an FBS game is 2023 for the next 8 years. Anyone heard anything for 2023?

May not be as obvious as it seems: if we play Clemson x3 in 8 years, the Gamecocks should be on our schedule sometime in those 8 years; so would that be 2023?

Pretty sure we won't be playing SC unless they start paying better. CU pays much better, plus they give us 2,000 tickets to sell and keep the money. That's the way it has been at least. The article states that the 2025 game at CU is for $500k. So maybe we won't get as many tix then, I don't know. $500k is a lot for a game that is 30+ miles away.

The shamecocks have been ripping us off for years. I don’t care if we ever play down there again. And, it’s a terrible environment for families.

I agree, and have stated in the past, that we are getting a bad deal when we play them. * ADDITIONAL INFO OF INTEREST, SEE BELOW ...

Can we not just wait and see what comes? Am I incorrect to think that some of these games come to our schedule late, instead of so far in advance? And that sometimes the ones that get scheduled far in advance get cancelled, though with a cancellation fee? 2023 is 5 years from now.

I have tried to think of some that I would like to see us get a game with, and it is hard to come up with many. Maybe teams that we've not played that I would put high on the list would include Texas and Oklahoma. A lot of the teams we have played in the past 40 years would also be of interest to play again. For the most part, though, my opinion is that it seems obvious we should go for what is best financially and best for Furman overall. So for many reasons, this (what BCS teams we play in the distant future) is not something to spend much time thinking about.

* ADDITIONAL INFO OF INTEREST:
Eastern Kentucky will travel to face the Louisville Cardinals ... on Sept. 11, 2021. The Colonels will receive a $570,000 guarantee for playing the game....
EKU and Louisville are also scheduled to meet on Sept. 7, 2019....
On Sept. 9, 2023, Eastern Kentucky will visit ...to take on the Kentucky Wildcats. UK will pay EKU a $550,000 guarantee...
EKU will travel to play the Mississippi State Bulldogs on Aug. 31, 2024. ... $550,000
Comment: Point is that this particular FCS program apparently has good deals for playing their BCS in-state teams.
At the same time, I am glad that FU gets to travel to play Clemson in 2025 for $500,000 than going to Starkville in 2025 for $550,000.

Have we ever had an FBS cancelled that was actually under contract? I don't recall one but maybe there was. I would like to see us play Alabama just for the fun of it. A lot of SoCon schools have played or will play them soon. Alabama plays Citadel this year, WCU next year and Mercer again in 2021. 2023 is open :) I'd also like to see us play Georgia and Florida St.

I already nominated Texas & Oklahoma. I'll add Colorado & Cal. Leave the area. Get the paycheck.
Air Force plays Stony Brook & Colgate soon. I'd like us to be on their schedule, if Clay wouldn't mind. Also, I'd like to see us play Army. I expect the payout for those 2, Air Force & Army would be smaller, but I think it would be good to play them anyway.

I feel like all of us are like broked records on here.

The Gamecocks do not pay as well as other schools, but the reason our payout was so much less back in 2010 when we played them was because when the contract was signed while the NCAA rules stated FCS games do not count toward your 6 wins for bowl eligibility.

If South Carolina was willing to pay upwards of $400K for a game that the school could do in a day trip I think it would be a great game for 2023. This year South Carolina is paying Chattanooga $400K for their game.

I'm sure the pay isn't as good, but it sure would be fun in the years where we can play two FBS games, to travel to a MAC, Conference USA, Sun Belt, etc. team to try to pick up a win. I love that we have the Georgia State game on the books for 2019. Hopefully that sort of thing will happen more often. Would also love some West Coast or Midwest travel to big opponents. How much fun would a trip to Wisconsin or Arizona be?

Why should USC not pay as well as other schools? Why should they not pay at least as much as Clemson does?

Because under the previous athletic leadership, they could take advantage of us. It’s as much our fault as theirs.

Exactly. If we were willing to sell at fire sale prices, why should any school pay more for a game than they have to?
