New arena in 10 years? Which one of you will start the ball rolling with the first $1M?

Sarcasm aside, a 10 year plan is a reasonable goal to have in place
I was not being sarcastic. If we have a 10-year plan, it starts with the first $. And since in 10 years a new arena will probably run $60-$70M, that means $6M/year, or $500K per month, or $17K per pay. Pony on up to the table. $10M will probably get you naming rights.

So you were not implying that someone needs to give 1million right now for this discussion to even begin?
Because that's certainly how it came off
I am not one to think 10 years out a 1million dollar gift is what is needed just to get this ball rolling, a financial plan to make it happen and starting with smaller contributions that begin to add up would be a great starting point honestly

Here is an extra nearly $300,000 to go towards the arena in 10 years

Add 500 seats to the baselines, sellout 5 games per year ($12 per ticket at current prices), that's an extra $30,000 per year and $300,000 over 10 years (the extra concessions sold over this time will cover the initial cost of the expanded stands)

Some of you don't appear to want to make extra money for the program though it seems for some reason

In the meantime, we can also raise ticket prices by $10, and we can put the extra money toward our 10 year plan. If we have those sellouts (5, as has been suggested), (and maybe a couple more), we can be well on our way. Just so we can know, how many of those new seats will be dedicated to students? I suspect demand for student seats will also rise with the success that this plan assumes. Raising ticket prices will be justified due to the increased demand from the Greenville community and local alums. I'll donate the first dollar, and I'll renew my season tickets at the higher price. Note sarcasm. [This item has been posted in jest.]

So as I was saying you're being sarcastic?

I am just glad we have a big dreamer and thinker running the program now with Bob Richey, I know that guy gets things done and has been getting things done in many facets over the past few years

With more help from the administration and the fan base his potential here is limitless

If this season's excitement for basketball can maintain the same level of enthusiasm and fundraising for 10 years I can certainly understand building a new arena.

However for now I feel like a $5-7 million injection in Timmons would be able to accomodate most of the needs of this basketball arena. If one were to scrap the existing bleacher layout and redesign the arena for basketball only it could easily accommodate 4,000+ people
