Stump Mitchell wating to happen, just needs the carries.
The Bellhop o-line would need to improve [A lot] before he has a chance of entering Stump Mitchell territory.

Could happen for him...It happened once*...3 years ago...for a 5-11/220 LB SR...who spent 4 years playing B-Back in that Offense

CIT Leading RB AVG Attempts/Game
2018 - Ward - 16
2017 - Rainey (now their QB) - 12
2016 - Renew - 21*
2015 - Renew - 12
2014 - Renew - 14

Also - Stump averaged 18 carries/game over his career and over 26 carries/game in his SR year.

I was referring to production...not carries per game.

Right - Stump had both - lots of carries and lots of production...the design of CIT's O at the time - TB-featuring I-formation - dictated a lot of carries for his position and he 'earned' more carries with his production which gave him more carries...and more production. He was one of the GREATS! (I think 88's comment/comparison might have been a bit tongue-in-cheek.)

OTOH - We have a young man who AVG'd 5, 11, 8, and 9 carries/game in his 1st 3.27 years with a Team...and then quit that Team mid-season, even though he was elected as a Team Captain by his Teammates, because he wanted to save his eligibility & find a Team the next year where he could get 20-25 carries/game.

So, as a 5-7/185 RB, he transfers to a Team where the carries are always split among 3 RB's and a running QB. B-Backs or QB's have had the most carries every year since 2014, when CIT went to this Offense. We know he's not a QB, so we expect that he must be going to play B-Back...as their A-Backs, though some are typically sized more like this young man, average about 6-7 carries/game (or less). And he's looking to get 20-25 carries/game - something that has only even come close to happening once in 5 years...and that was by a 220 lb guy who had perfected his play in the role - a unique role for a RB - over 3 prior years & 350 carries. I could be wrong, but the smallest B-Back CIT has had in the past 5 years weighed 205.

We'll see if his actual number of carries for the bellhops meets his stated expectations (20-25/game) and, perhaps, how he reacts if those expectations are not met. As always, I wish the best for the young man, but FUBeAR is pretty darn skeptical about his decision and a bit perplexed, for a variety of reasons, that CIT recruited him. Maybe it will work out wonderfully for him and them.

About Us

GoPaladins.com is the latest iteration of The Unofficial Furman Football Page. Launched in August of 1996, The UFFP welcomes fans of all FCS football teams - and fans of the more inferior sports, too - for discussion, cameraderie, and even the occasional smack talk.

For example, Furman has nearly twice as many Southern Conference football championships as the next best SoCon member, and over three times as many as The Citadel....which is why they must carry our luggage
