Game is scheduled for 2024. They also have future games against Oklahoma($625,000), Arkansas($550,000) and Wake Forest($425,000).

Would love to play any of those teams, but especially Wake. Also, phenomenal non-conference FCS get. Is there a return game?

No return game by the Griz was noted in the info that I saw

Then I retract my part about loving to play them. I can't see a reason at Furman's level to play any FCS team if there's no return game.

I think we have a pretty good lineup of FBS teams ahead. Certainly, a game with Wake would be winnable and that may be the reason we’ve not been able to schedule them, if in fact we’ve tried.

Montana is FCS.
So keeping discussion on that level, I would like us to get home & home contracts with
Richmond
W&M
Bucknell
Lafayette
Colgate again
Holy Cross
Georgetown

Really, you want Furman Football to go play here?

Travelers Rest & Berea HS's have much nicer stadiums

Wonder what Montana had to pay WCU for the visit. Has to be a guarantee without a return game.

The flip side of the coin also is that without a return game, WCU will have to probably pay a lower level team to come to them or lose a home game in the future.

I'm not interested in a home and home with the Patriot, Ivy or any of those other smaller NE leagues, even though they are usually pretty easy wins. I would be more excited about home and homes with the CAA, OVC, Southland, Big Sky and most especially Missouri Valley. Test ourselves and help the SoCon get some respect back.

Not opposed to Part 2 of your Statement at all - but a Home and Home with Harvard, Yale, or Princeton is a fun deal for fans (we had a blast going to Mercer @ Yale) and they are not 'easy wins.' I'm no Ivy fan, generally, but I'm not certain that Princeton (10-0) wouldn't have won the SoCon last year. That was a pretty dang good Football Team and they finished ranked #11. Wofford finished #13. Also, those 3 Teams ARE respected in the FCS and Dartmouth is close. I would go as far as to say that it's possible if Mercer had won @ Yale this part year, Furman MAY have made the Playoffs.

I'm ambivalent on a few of the PL Teams and would be OK with doing a home/home with a few. Like you, I have no interest in playing Home/Home against NEC Teams or Carpet-bagging Northern Teams in the Big South...or maybe even a few of those in the CAA - Albany & Stony Brook, for example. Finally, I have no interest in playing @ Elon...but that falls in with my thinking that we should NEVER again play Appy or GaSou...anywhere, for any amount of money...unless they return to the FCS or there is a 'shake-up' that reclassifies FU in the same category with their malcontent, arrogant a$$e$.

Fair. You follow FCS closer than I do, so would know the level of the Ivy League better than I would. For me, It's very hard to gauge the true talent there until they jump in the playoffs. Until then I put them on par with the Patriot, Pioneer, Big South (minus KSU), etc. And I'll back track and say that it would be really cool to play in some of those giant, historic stadiums in great cities in the North. As long as it's not in November!

I believe Harvard had a top 5 recruiting class this year in the FCS level. Furman would not be compromised by playing some of the football schools in the Ivy and Patriot leagues. by all accounts, the canceled Colgate game would have been a really good one.

Sorry...I was misinformed...looks like The Griz WILL be visiting Cullowhee...

WCU and Montana will begin a home-and-home series at Washington-Grizzly Stadium in Missoula on Sept. 14, 2024. The series will then shift to Cullowhee on Aug. 30, 2025.

Kudos to WCU for their future FB scheduling. Thanks to FUBeAR for info. But I disagree with FUBeAR about some of his anti-Carpet-bagging and anti-NEC and anti-Patriot League comments. For example, It would be wonderful for Furman to get home&home with SUNY-Albany, or New Hampshire, or several others I previously mentioned from the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast states. It would be wonderful to have some games vs Ivy League schools, as Mercer has apparently done.
But I also wish we might get home&home with schools such as South Dakota, Idaho, Idaho State, Northern Arizona, Missouri State, SE Louisiana, Indiana State, Northern Iowa, Western Illinois, Eastern Illinois, Villanova, etc. And get some interesting future FBS opponents from beyond the SE, such as Kansas, Colorado, Iowa State, etc.
Scheduling, as well as winning, is good for recruiting, fan interest, and general public “interest-notice-reputation”. WCU will benefit from their future scheduling.
(But yeah, forget Elon. I don’t have any interest in them.)
Beat Point.

OK - i’ll go with Albany...but only because their mascot is the Great Danes. Well...I guess Stony Brook’s is the Seawolves...so they can be in too.

But...we were talking about Home/Home deals...so a big part of my thinking on that is determined by my interest level in going to a game there. LonGuyLand & upstate NY just don’t interest me much...but Marist in Poughkeepsie NY didn’t either & I ended up tailgating on the banks of the Hudson on a beautiful campus with very interesting architecture. So...ya never know til ya go.
