UC Davis may be not too far behind Sacramento State with a similar move. Davis apparently is needing “additional investment” in football before they can move up. Davis already moved to Mountain West for all sports except football, for which they continue in FCS for now. Davis will play Mercer in football this season (in Montgomery, AL) and Stetson in 2026.
UC Davis and Sacramento State are only 19 minutes apart in driving time. (Less than it takes to get from Furman to GSP for example.)
