NC A&T beat JSU last night at JSU. 20-17. Was not impressed by either team.

Only saw a few minutes but I am slow to judge teams on first few games. To wit, FU losing first few games last year and then reeling off 7 straight wins !!! Sounds like a strong defensive effort. It's never easy to go to Jax State and win !! That's a big win for NC AT who we usually say 'wins just because they are in MEAC'. My main takeaway is I want NC AT to go to the bowl game and leave an open playoff spotcavedweller2 wrote: ↑Sun Aug 26, 2018 8:38 amNC A&T beat JSU last night at JSU. 20-17. My mistake on locale. Just caught a few minutes and saw several JSU fans. Still think that's a good win for NC AT as the common perception is NC AT couldn't play w top 20 FCS and are propped up by MEAC wins. This gives them credibility. Later in year all anyone will see is score. But I defer to you on the game. You saw more than meFlagman wrote: ↑Sun Aug 26, 2018 2:42 pmThe game was played at a neutral site (Montgomery, AL), although one would think that favored J-State. Very sloppy game. At least fifteen penalties in the first half. Neither team was impressive, belying their rankings, regardless of it being the first game. Top 15 ranked teams should be better than that.
In 2018, NC A&T went undefeated and played in the Celebration Bowl, the first HBCU to go undefeated, gofurman wrote: ↑Sun Aug 26, 2018 7:56 pmMy mistake on locale. I watched the majority of that game, and I agree with this analysis. Lots of penalties of the pointless dead ball variety (personal foul, unsportsmanlike conduct). I was thinking as I watched, "Last year's Furman team could beat either of these teams."Flagman wrote: ↑Sun Aug 26, 2018 2:42 pmThe game was played at a neutral site (Montgomery, AL), although one would think that favored J-State. Flag, right - I am aware. Great accomplishment for NC AT last year! .. I just meant the general perception in FCS of the HBCU / MEAC is not muchFlagman wrote: ↑Sun Aug 26, 2018 8:03 pmIn 2018, NC A&T went undefeated and played in the Celebration Bowl, the first HBCU to go undefeated, gofurman wrote: ↑Sun Aug 26, 2018 7:56 pmMy mistake on locale. I would be willing to bet they make more money off the Celebration Bowl than if they played a game or two in the playoffs.gofurman wrote: ↑Thu Aug 30, 2018 4:24 pmFlag, right - I am aware. Anyway, I hope they go to the Bowl game again and leave a playoff spot open !
probably so - I just meant as a fan of FU I hope they leave a playoff spot open. I have nothing at all against NC AT. I am sure there is a TV payday from that bowlgman wrote: ↑Thu Aug 30, 2018 5:55 pmI would be willing to bet they make more money off the Celebration Bowl than if they played a game or two in the playoffs.gofurman wrote: ↑Thu Aug 30, 2018 4:24 pmFlag, right - I am aware.
