Both soccer teams announced their schedules Friday. Coach Richie has stated that he wanted to get done earlier than last year. I think it was announced in August last year so hopefully it will be announced soon. Anyone heard of any games so far?

Looking at 2019-2020 exempt tournaments, the Paladins are not listed anywhere. ETSU, Sammy, WC, UTC, Gardner-Webb, PC etc are.

They are in one...stay patient! Staff member told me this has been by far the hardest year to schedule games...especially with no money to buy games. Samford even offering guarantee money for a home game. Times have changed.

Six years ago scheduling was a struggle because we were lousy. Now we're respectable and scheduling's still a struggle - sheesh. No matter, I'm happier the team's respectable.

Few teams want to play us because of our unique style of offense. Scared.

Yep seems like we can't win. The excuse we heard when we were bad was our RPI was not good enough and the big boys did not want to bring down their RPI and SOS. Of course the big boys OOC schedule means virtually nothing. All the big boys need to do is schedule 10 wins and win 40% of their conference games and they are in the NCAA. Maybe we need to ask WC how they do it and what we are doing wrong, LOL.

That is good news. Do you know if it is another one of those that you are in it but not really, but you do get some extra games like the last few years?

Probably playing Alabama and Auburn back to back. Exciting.

Nothing to LOL about in that last sentence, unless it’s that you believe WC would not tell us how they get games against those big names that they’ve been successful getting.

I don't think there are any secrets for Wofford.

Mike Young was an assistant and head coach at Wofford for about 30 years. That is long enough make some personal relationships with other coaches that can help with getting some games.
They have made multiple NCAA tourneys in the past 10 years. That gives prestige that helps get on some schedules.
They opened a new building that helped get a couple of prestige games. That effect will fade quickly, though.

Just a few reasons that immediately come to mind.

So we should work for improved coaching longevity, improved long-term relationships, improved prestige, and improved facilities.

That second paragraph, “Furman is coming of a great season ....”, is a superb commentary on our 2018-2019 season.
