Coach Perry to Wofford

Per twitter announcement (and his twitter bio) coach Dwight Perry has accepted an assistant coach position at Wofford College to work with Jay McAuley.

Sad to see him go. I also feel bad for his closet that will have to go from the beautiful purple and white, to black and gold

Certainly Matt Rafferty could step in at some capacity with that opening if he doesn't play overseas! Stinks to lose one to WC.

That is a big loss for Furman. Perry was the best assistant we had.

Coach Perry was really good...No doubt...But there are some good ones out there...Furman should step up and offer UNC Asheville assistant Kyle Perry.

Wofford can have Niko's #2 and #3 assistants, we've got Niko's #1 ;)

As we have now seen Wofford pays their head coach peanuts, so this could be a reason they can offer some decent money to an assistant

We will be just fine

Which current recruits/players has Perry been responsible for bringing in here during his time?

We can all agree Coach Perry is a great person. But let's not make statements like "huge loss" without facts to back this up. We all want the same thing for Furman - athletic (and university as a whole) excellence and the rhetoric of negativity won't help us achieve this.

I have on great information that Coach Richey and FU could have easily matched Wofford's offer - and there was a reason we did not.

Coach Richey wants to elevate the recruiting of his staff and this allows him drastically an opportunity to do so - I believe Coach Perry was responsible for one recruit in his time at FU.

This was not a situation of Wofford "taking one of our coaches" but an opportunity for an amicable separation and in turn Coach Richey elevate the staff.

Taking us from good to great as a program is not an easy thing to do. Let's get behind this team/staff and cultivate a championship culture as a fan base. Statements without facts create a false narrative that impacts the program.

Wish you had not used another school’s colors for your illustration of onward & upward. 🤭 😂

Not saying this is a bad thing. I will not be surprised if Daniel Fowler is promoted and say someone like Andrew Brown replaces him.

You are reading something in my statement that is false. My post was coming from my heart, as I personally know Dwight. My post was certainly not intended to imply anything negative toward Coach Richey and the program. Let’s just say I know Bob well too, and he knows he has my full support. I wish Dwight and his family well, wherever he goes. He is a great young man. Things happen for a reason. Only God knows the plan.

It's normal for assistants to move around. I don't know Mr. Perry but wish him well.

Completely get it. But when someone reads “huge loss” without the context you provide it can be taken in other ways. Want to do what we can to create positive messaging so things can’t get misinterpreted. Go Dins.
