25-8 (Review)

Great to get the school record for wins (25)

Nice to have the first season in 30 years that we finish up with less than 10 losses (8)

In the last 2 games UNCG and Wichita we can see the areas that need major improvement if we are going to take this thing up another level

We have 3 new recruits coming in next season, plus we have 2 more scholarships open to go out and find some talent that can contribute towards winning a championship

Hopefully we can work hard this summer and have some great success in March next season

25-8
While of course I would liked to have won tonight, beat UNCG in the So Con Tournament, beat Wofford etc........

When , since the 70’s , has Furman had more to be proud of than the accomplishments of this season.
I am very thankful for the success we had this season.
And I am excited about the future !!
The trend looks mighty good!!

Furman record the past 6 Seasons
This year - 25-8
17/18 - 23-10
16/17 - 23-12
15/16 - 19 - 16
14/15 - 11-22
13/14 - 9-21

Go Furman!!

Let’s have fun with math...If I recall Dr. Charles Alford’s Statistics Stylings correctly, you’ve posted a time value series. So, we can convert those records to winning %’s and using regression analysis, determine the ‘line of best fit’...which will point us PRECISELY to next year’s record...

Value1 = .300
Value2 = .333
Value3 = .543
Value4 = .657
Value5 = .697
Value6 = .757

ImageOur equation for the Line of Best Fit: Y = 0.09974*X + 0.1987

LOOKING GOOD!

Projected Value7 (AKA “next year”) = .897

...or...rounding to 26-3 in a 29 game regular season
...and...rounding to 30-3 if FU’s plays in the SoCon Finals...so I guess that means winning the SoCon Tourney!
...and...rounding to 30-4 with 1 NCAA Tournament game...unfortunately, a loss. DANG IT - I hate math!

Wait until the next year though! The Paladins may make it all the way to the Final Four with a currently projected .988 winning % in the 2020-2021 season (had to recalculate the equation & adjust that down because 30-4 is only .882 instead of the projected .897...30-4 is mathematically rounded ‘underachieving,’ I guess)...yep...29-0 Regular Season...33-0 after the SoCon Tourney...#2 Seed, maybe?...yep...just ran the numbers...not only to the Final Four, but to an undefeated 39-0 season and the NCAA Championship!!! IT’S SCIENCE.

GREAT year considering the loss of guys from last year, most wins ever, and NIT appearance. The foundation has been laid.

2 big wins after starting 12-0. Need to keep improving to get to where we need to be.

I didn't think at large anything was possible for this group or any SOCON. This time last year I was as down as could be after getting knocked out and losing all those seniors. BUT along comes a victory over the defending national champions, another final four team all on the road, almost a month in the top 25 a dance bubble watch and an at large NIT. With four starters returning, things are looking up! Sending our seniors out with 2 CIT's and an NIT, not shabby at all!! GO PALADINS!!

Indeed, great interviews. Great young men.

We have 80% returning, but lose 50% of the team.

80-20=50(MR)

@FUBeAR - outstanding. A few more to-do's, if you don't mind:
  • 1. Print 100 copies of this chart.
    2. Give several to every recruiting coach who's about to hit the road; give twice as many to CBR.
    3. Watch what happens.

Trees don't grow to the sky and regression to the mean (See: Loyola - Chicago 2018-19) will more than likely be the applicable mathematical concept.
