Plenty of tickets left for this game but not that many left for the Citadel next Saturday.

A little bit from the analytic side for this game. KenPom gives us a 77% chance of winning, with a predictive score of 72-63.

When Mercer has the ball:
- They are poor outside shooters....30.8% from 3 (279th in D1)
- They do OK inside the arc, shooting 52.5% (122nd in D1)
- They are prone to turn it over, ranking 270th in D1 in turnovers per game.
- A little better than average on the offensive boards (146th in D1)

When Furman has the ball:
- they do a good job forcing turnovers (73rd in D1) and defending the 3 pt shot, only giving up 31.9% to opponents (95th)
- The don't do a great job defensive rebounds, only 273rd in D1 and the don't block many shots (316th), and surrender 2pt FG % of 53% (248th)

They key our strength vs their weakness:
- We block alot of shots (57th) and they get alot of shots blocked (321st)
- We force a decent amount of turnovers (126th) and they turn it over (270th)
- We do a decent job on the offense boards and they're a poor defensive rebounding team
- We shoot a high % from 2pt range and they defend the 2pt FG poorly

Recent results:

Dec 1 - Lost at 191 Citadel 79-69
Dec 5 - Lost at 206 Fla Atlantic 68-64
Dec 8 - Lost to 134 Ga Southern 89-74
Dec 18 - Lost at 17 Florida 71-63
Dec 21 - Beat 236 UNC-W 77-73
Dec 29 - Lost vs 102 Harvard 71-67

The most noticeable thing about their results is that they have been close in almost every game. They only lost to top 25 N.C. State by 4; to Florida by 8; and to Sun Belt favorite Georgia State by 2. All of those games were on the road. Their worst losses were by 15 to Georgia Southern and by 10 to the Citadel.

They are playing a smaller lineup than last year - probably by necessity. Only one player taller than 6'4" in the starting lineup -6'7" Cory Kilby. The leading scorer is 6'3" Ross Cummings, who shoots a lot of threes (over 70% of his shots) and hits close to 40% of them. He averages 14 ppg. They have relatively balanced scoring and rebounding. Three players average about 5.5 rebounds per game including 6'11' freshman Fardaws Aimaq, their biggest player.

Mercer has lost 5 of last 6 games. They may be an angry bunch.

Mercer has eight losses to teams with a .500 record or better...Worst loss is by 15 pts to Georgia Southern I think.

With three points tonight, Matt joins the 1,000 point club. But, as Matt will tell you, the only thing that is important is getting the W!

Hopefully, the gate will be open. Last night prior to the women's game both gates on Duncan Chapel were closed. We had to go around to the front entrance and navigate the detour through the south chapel parking lot. Once we got into the parking lot in front of Timmons, the campus police opened the gate. Hopefully the campus police have gotten the message that there is a game tonight.
