Frank Selvy was a fine man with as much humility as any great athlete I've known #Paladins --

I watched TV and saw Selvy score 100. In 1954 not everyone had a tv so that night we had a house full to watch the game. I remember going to church the next day and hearing people talk about the game. The preacher got in the discussion and mentioned it from the pulpit. Frank Selvy put Furman on the basketball map and we are grateful for that. BTW, i understood that Adolf Rupp was late to discover Frank and when he did he offered him a scholarship. Frank refused saying he had made a commitment to Furman. That says so much about his integrity and character. We need more of that in today’s sports world.

I wonder if the bald headed referee in the Selvy video is Lou Bello who was quite an entertainer as a ref in the ACC and also reffed some Poinsettia Classic Furman games in the 1960s.

Nothing new in this LA Times article, but the picture of Selvy shooting over Chamberlin is a classic. Selvy looks like he had a great vertical leap.https://www.latimes.com/sports/story/20 ... ers-player
