That thought was raised by Bob Richey and JD, it makes sense as Greenville is now a top 35 TV market and that stuff matters to larger conferences

I know the Big East might be a stretch, but I was surprised at the smaller student enrollments of many of the Big East basketball schools

Maybe if Big East adds a 12th team from A10 we would look to make jump to A10?
Lots of great basketball programs in that league.

JD has stated the most important thing is to be in a multi-bid NCAA tourney league, gotta follow the money of course.

Unfortunately, the media in the Greenville market only see orange. Without the support of the local media (TV and newspaper), it'll be difficult to boost Furman basketball. Can we afford to do it ourselves? Are we willing to expend the resources for such a campaign?

Georgia St. and UNCC are not covered well in their own large cities, it makes no difference they still get the TV market size boost

Furman does not need the help of local media, nobody pays attention to local media, maybe social media lol but not local media papers and news any more, just need Greenville to keep on growing

Plus we are already doing it ourselves by having a nationally relevant team and playing games in downtown Gville, the fan base continues to get younger and keeps on growing

C’mon Flagman, wyff gives FU 45 seconds of coverage every week on Wednesday, not Tuesday, not Thursday always Wednesday along with 45 seconds for WC. On gameday Saturdays they show 1 or 2 plays but no more. So less than 75 seconds a week, what more could you want? That’s plenty.

To address your question, the Greenville/Spartanburg, Asheville tv market is ranked 35th largest in the nation. The answer is yes, it is big enough. However, Furman sports has not been large enough for the tv market. Football cannot change that, but this basketball team can.

It should be the goal of everyone at the university to support ventures (IE. basketball success on the national stage) that will boost applicants for the university so that the total enrollment can grow without compromising any academic standards/integrity at all.
