My goodness. We are overdue to beat them at Wofford. Win and we are 6-2 and they are 4-4. Lose and we are both 5-3. A huge difference.

Overdue is an understatement. 1-14 the last 15 trips over there. Only win was in OT in 2011 so haven’t won there the last 10 years. Never won at their new place. Hoping the law of averages kicks in Saturday.

As previously stated the NET likes blowouts. FU jumped 8 spots to #95 two spots behind WC.

There is no such thing as "the law of averages". The team that plays the best will win*. Notice I didn't say the best team always wins, although I think, this year we do have the best team. The Paladins can do it, but it's gonna be a tough road game, just like last Sat.

*When the Refs don't muck it up

The law of averages is real for sure. :lol: Baptiste is back for UTC tonight as expected.

UTC pulling away at the 4 minute mark. Uncg in scoring drought, went from up 48-45 to down 57-50. Afraid we are going to look back at Saturday for what coulda been. A win Saturday and we would have had at least a 2 game lead on everyone. Now we are going to be chasing for awhile.

What could have been? Had we won on Saturday, we'd be up 1 game on UTC. Instead, we will be 1 game back. "Chasing for awhile"? Where do you come up with this extreme pessimism about this team/season?? Just stop posting and start rooting for all the other Socon foes.

We would have been up one game on UTC plus own the tie-breaker so 2 games. Now we are a game behind UTC and they own the tie-breaker so 2 games back. UTC could lose a few games but with Baptiste back, not likely. If they do how long will it take? FU is not going to run the table. Furman doesn’t play them again until late so right now we are in a chasing mode instead of being chased. Pretty simple.

There's no tiebreaker if FU beats the one team ahead of them. You don't add "games back" because of a tie breaker? Not at all how it works dude. They almost lost tonight with DJB, they've lost to WCU, and they aren't likely to run the table either. You're just a bad fan. Why even root for them if it's inevitable in your mind the FU never catches them, never wins in Asheville, and UTC runs the table?

I am not a pessimistic fan. I think we can win out. But I feel like we are 2 games behind UTC. If/when we beat UTC at home we are tied but tiebreaker goes to UTC w our loss vs VMI (VMI should finish higher than WCU). I don’t really understand why that is the tiebreak. If you lose - make sure it is only to the worst teams !?!

Tie-Breaking Formula
In the event of a tie for a particular seed, the seed will be determined as follows:
If one team has defeated the other team a greater number of times, that team shall be awarded the higher seeded position;
If each team has won one game against the other, the higher position will be awarded to the team that has the best won-loss record against the highest-seeded team not involved in the tie;
If each team has the same record against the highest-seeded team not involved in the tie, then the won-loss record against the next highest-seeded team not involved in the tie would be considered and so on down the line until the tie is broken;
If the won-loss records are the same against all teams, then the tie would be broken by comparing each team’s NCAA Evaluation Tool (NET) ranking as published by NCAA.com after the completion of the regular season;
In the event of a three-way tie, the won-loss record of the tied teams against each other is first considered;
If the teams are still tied, the teams’ records against the highest-seeded team not involved in the tie would be considered and so forth until the tie is broken;
If there is still a tie, then the tie would be broken by comparing each team’s NET rankings as published by NCAA.com after the completion of the regular season;
For multiple ties larger than a three-way tie, the same procedure will be applied as used to break a three-way tie;
For all multiple ties, the tie is broken by first deciding the highest-seeded team involved in the tie before other seeding positions are determined.

The fact that UTC earns the tiebreaker with a loss to arguably the worst team in the SoCon is kind of an insane rule... I honestly don't think they are good enough to run the table, plus Furman beats them in our house. They may lose tomorrow night in Lexington, no easy outs in this conference. Beat Wofford.
